Maxx Crosby Reveals Threatening Message He Received From Tom Brady at Practice

Tom Brady hasn’t been in the Las Vegas Raiders‘ building much since buying a minority ownership stake in the team. He has been heavily involved with what the team is doing, but he prefers to remain in the shadows.

One of the most notable appearances he had was during Raiders training camp when he showed up for a team scrimmage at Allegiant Stadium. There was a photo of Brady sitting next to star defensive end Maxx Crosby on the bench, which led to speculation of what the two were talking about.

Crosby has now revealed what the legendary quarterback told him.

“We’re in the scrimmage, it’s the first time in front of the fans in camp, and I go out there and I’m like, you know myself, I like to put on a show,” Crosby said on the “Let’s Go!” podcast. “And I strip-sack the quarterback, and you know, you’re not supposed to touch the quarterback in practice. I took it right off him and ran the ball 70 yards back, dunked it on the goalpost, and Tom is like, ‘If you (expletive) touch the quarterback one more time, I’ll (expletive) you up,’ so that was our conversation.”

Crobsy noted that after that message, the two discussed the direction of the team.

Crosby Talks First Brady Encounter

Though Brady is technically Crosby’s boss now, the two have known each other for a while. In fact, they played against each other during the 2020 season when Brady was still with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Crosby spoke about his first time meeting the future Hall of Famer.

“The greatest football player to ever do it. … There’s not even a question,” Crosby said. “Having him in my corner has been amazing, too. I met him a few years back, before he was involved with the Raiders. … Having conversations with him, at first, I was starstruck a little bit.

“I’m not like that with damn-near anybody, you know what I mean? I’ll walk up to the President like I know him.”

Brady Has Taught Crosby Lesson

Brady doesn’t have a defined role with the Raiders outside of being a part-owner. There have been many reports that he’s essentially running the football side of things, but that hasn’t been confirmed with an official title.

While he can bring a lot of football knowledge to the front office and help build up the team, he’s also a valuable resource for the players. Crosby revealed the most valuable lesson he’s learned from Brady.

“He’s taught me how to be a better leader,” Crosby said. “He’s showed me, this is what it looked like when I was young, and this is what it looked like in year seven for me. It’s been a constant evolving relationship, and he’s helped me so much, I think mostly in a leadership role, how to bring teammates along, how to push guys, to pull guys in a certain direction.”

Brady’s presence certainly won’t hurt the Raiders, and as he continues to get more involved, he could be exactly what a franchise that hasn’t won a playoff game since 2002 needs.
