Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo Takes a Savage Roast from Knicks Legend

Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo struggled on December 21 in a 132-125 loss to the New York Knicks.

New York Knicks color commentator and Hall of Famer Walt Frazier took a shot at Adebayo’s recent slump following an airballed three-point shot in the first quarter.

“He’s 0-3 now,” Frazier said. “Maybe his girlfriend can help him with his shooting.”

Adebayo finished with 14 points on 4-11 from the field and nine rebounds. He also finished with three turnovers and zero assists.

Adebayo is in a relationship with four-time WNBA MVP and three-time WNBA Finals champion A’ja Wilson. The two have been dating since 2021.

Adebayo has struggled with his three-point shooting in December, with his three-point percentage drastically decreasing throughout the season.

Adebayo finished October shooting 36.1% from deep, November shooting 32.4% from deep and he’s currently shooting 27.3% from deep in December.

Over the past six games, Adebayo has combined to shoot 1-15, or 7%, from beyond the arc.

It’s not a surprise that Walt Frazier referenced Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson’s relationship in his roast.

Their relationship has become the center of attention throughout the sports world.

Time Magazine recently named A’ja Wilson the 2025 athlete of the year, which came with a fully detailed feature story written by Sean Gregory.

Following the story’s publication, fans and members of the media have been desperate to find additional details about their relationship. NBA insider Rachel Nichols even asked other NBA players for their opinions.

As part of the story, Wilson detailed her relationship with Adebayo, which included how they improved their basketball skills together.

The story says: “They team up for shooting drills: one player has to hit a certain number in a row before they can stop. If Wilson’s hot, she’ll tell him her back hurts from carrying them.”

Wilson finished the WNBA season shooting 42.4% from three. For her career, she is shooting 36.5% from three.

Wilson’s three-point percentage was the sixth-highest among WNBA players this past season, meaning she likely could help Adebayo with his shooting.

Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo has Struggled Shooting Against the New York Knicks

Walt Frazier has seen Bam Adebayo miss a lot of threes in person this season.

In addition to finishing 0-3 against the Knicks from deep on December 21, Adebayo finished the matchup between the Miami Heat and New York Knicks on October 26, going 1-5 from three.

Adebayo has only made one three-pointer in his career against the Knicks, which came in their October matchup. He is shooting 1-17 from deep all-time when playing New York.

Adebayo has been largely criticized throughout his career for being reluctant to attack downhill, often settling for jump shots. That was the case during the game.

The Heat have recently struggled, losing eight of their last 10 games while their scoring has dipped from the start of the season.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was not critical of Adebayo in particular, but of his team’s complacency.

“Our guys care in the locker room, but it has to be another level,” Spoelstra said. “It’s not enough, it’s got to be more. This league is a savage league. It’s survival of the competitive toughest. That’s where we’re gonna get.”
