Micah Parsons Issues 6-Word Reaction After Trade to Packers

Micah Parsons has already made his feelings clear about the Dallas Cowboys trading him to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday in a blockbuster deal.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers traded two first-round picks and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark to the Cowboys in exchange for Parsons on Thursday afternoon, agreeing to a four-year, $188 million contract extension in the process that makes the three-time All-Pro pass rusher the NFL’s highest-paid non-QB.

Moments after the news broke, Parsons took to social media to usher in the next era of his career, sharing a 51-second career highlight video along with his six-word reaction.

“Thank you, Dallas ….. GO Pack Go!” Parsons wrote on X after Thursday’s trade, adding a longer statement directed at the Cowboys and their fans in a linked post below it.

The Packers will now have Parsons and former first-round pick Rashan Gary coming off the edge for them on defense, a development that should help improve their pass rush after an inconsistent first season under defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley in 2024. They also have Lukas Van Ness — their No. 13 overall pick in 2023 — in place as their No. 3.

The Packers will begin the season at home against the Detroit Lions on September 7.

Packers Seized the Moment to Make Super Bowl Run

For years now, Packers fans have regularly rolled their eyes whenever general manager Brian Gutekunst has talked about making sure the team is “in every conversation” when it comes to trades for big-name players but somehow never securing one for the roster.

Sure, the Packers have made some headline-stealing trades, such as when they shipped Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders or dealt Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. But outside of trading up in the draft, Gutekunst had never made a substantial trade to add a veteran player to the Packers’ roster during his first eight seasons in his position.

Until now, that is.

Gutekunst had spoken in January about wanting to “ramp up” the sense of urgency for the Packers for 2025, declaring “it’s time we started competing for championships.” Nothing says urgency like trading a former Pro Bowl veteran and two first-round picks for one of the NFL’s best defensive players and paying him a record-setting contract.

Parsons is a perennial Pro Bowl pass rusher who has been on a Hall of Fame trajectory over his first four seasons in the NFL. He won the league’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2021 and has tallied 52.5 sacks and 112 quarterback hits in 63 career starts. At no point in his first four seasons did he finish a campaign with fewer than 12 sacks.
