Micah Parsons’ Justin Fields Comments Resurface Amid Trade Demand

The New York Jets’ starting quarterback in 2025 is Justin Fields.

Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons called Fields “the best quarterback in America” five years ago on social media. Those comments have resurfaced since Parsons has requested a trade from America’s Team.

DraftKings listed the Jets (+2500) among the teams that have the best chance of landing Parsons if he were to be moved.

Context Behind Parsons’ Social Media Post

Parsons posted his Fields message on October 31, 2020.

That was the same day that Fields led Ohio State to a 38-25 victory over No. 18-ranked Penn State.

Fields finished that game with 318 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, no interceptions, and he completed 82% of his passes.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has often pointed to the Ohio State film when describing his optimism that Fields can turn things around in New York.

A phrase Glenn has said over the past couple of months is that if he has seen you do it before on tape, he knows you can do it again.

Fields provided plenty of reasons in his college career to believe.

With the Buckeyes, Fields finished with a 67 touchdown to nine interception ratio, completed 68.4% of his passes, and threw for 5,701 passing yards.

On the ground, Fields proved he was a dual-threat quarterback. He finished with 1,133 rushing yards, 19 rushing scores, and he averaged 4.4 yards per carry.

Things Are Getting Intense Between Parsons-Cowboys

Former NFL quarterback turned analyst Chase Daniel argued that things between Parsons and the Cowboys have “gotten personal, almost borderline hatred” on “Scoop City.”

There are certainly flavors of that in Parsons’ public trade demand.

In his social media post on August 1, Parsons revealed that the Cowboys and his agent hadn’t had a “single conversation.”

“I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys,” Parsons wrote.

NFL Insider Reacts to Jets-Cowboys Trade Idea: EXCLUSIVE

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic proposed a hypothetical trade package representing the Jets for Parsons from the Cowboys.

“Cowboys receive: running back Breece Hall, pass rusher Jermaine Johnson, a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2028 third-round pick.”

NFL Insider Matt Lombardo joined me on “Boy Green Daily” and reacted to that potential trade idea.

“If Jerry Jones, after completely alienating Micah Parsons and seeming to forget that injuries are a part of the NFL, calls up the New York Jets and offers this trade package, the Jets need to take it in a New York second. Forget a New York minute, a New York second,” Lombardo responded.

However, Lombardo doesn’t believe Parsons will be traded “for anything less than two first-round picks plus.”

“I think the Jets are one of these great situations where they’re in the AFC, they’re a team on the rise, a defensive-minded head coach, the Jets should absolutely be calling the Dallas Cowboys about Micah Parsons,” Lombardo emphatically told me.

“I don’t think the conversation starts from the Cowboys’ end of things without two first-round picks, plus a Jermaine Johnson, and a Breece Hall. By the way, if you’re the New York Jets, you still do that deal because Micah Parsons is one of the top-three edge rushers at one of the most important and vital positions across a roster,” Lombardo explained.
