Micah Parsons Slams Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones, Takes Feud to Next Level

Green Bay Packers superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons is fed up with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Parsons took his ongoing feud with Jones to the next level on Thursday, January 1 less than one day after the Packers scooped cornerback Trevon Diggs off the waiver wire ahead of their playoff run. Jones served Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowler with the Cowboys, his release papers ahead of Week 18 after tensions had built between the two sides across the 2025 campaign.

“Y’all want me to feel bad? Jerry Jones slandered my name to Cowboys media and national media for months,” Parsons said. “So I do think I can react to comment if I want to! #respectfully.”

Jones dealt Parsons to the Packers for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark in late August, a move that was more than a little shocking to most of the NFL universe — and only in part because it came just days ahead of the start of the regular season.

Parsons, 26, inked a historic four-year extension with the Packers for a total of $186 million almost immediately after arriving in Green Bay. That followed months of contentious negotiations between Parsons and Jones, from which the original animosity stemmed.

The Cowboys defense, which most analysts were projecting would be shaky at best in 2025, did not fare well after the move. Dallas finished 30th in total defense, allowing 376.8 yards per game. The unit also tied for 25th with 31 total sacks.

Pressuring opposing quarterbacks is Parsons’ forte, which he did to the tune of 12.5 sacks in 14 contests before suffering a non-contact ACL tear against the Denver Broncos in Week 15. Parsons underwent surgery earlier this week, shortly after earning Pro Bowl honors for the fifth time in his five-year professional career.

According to Pro Football Focus, Parsons remains the No. 3 edge defender in the NFL heading into Week 18. That ranking is out of 115 players who have seen enough snaps to qualify. PFF’s numbers indicate that Parsons produced 79 total pressures (5th at the position league-wide), 51 quarterback hurries (6th) and 11th in QB hits (14), even despite his injury-shortened campaign.

Trevon Diggs’ Future With Packers Beyond Playoff Run Remains Uncertain

Green Bay has not been the same defense since Parsons’ exit, though the Packers fielded one of the most fearsome units in the league up until that point.

And given current medical treatments and rehabilitation programs, combined with Parsons’ age and the fact that he suffered a clean tear of his ACL without further complications, the chances are strong that he will be back early next season and will ultimately return to 100 percent of his former self.

Whether Diggs will be with the team long enough to actually play a snap alongside Parsons remains to be seen. The Packers picked up a roughly $500,000 tab on Diggs for the final game of the season, which can fluctuate a bit below or above that total based on whether he is active in Week 18.

Diggs has three years remaining on his contract, but none of the money is guaranteed. As such, he will be a member of the Green Bay defense next week and for as long as the team’s playoff run persists. After that, the Packers will decide whether to keep Diggs on his current contract, attempt to negotiate a new agreement or release him into free agency.
