Micah Parsons to Green Bay Packers Talks Heat Up With Latest Trade Proposal

The Green Bay Packers have put themselves out there as the most aggressive team to acquire this disgruntled Dallas Cowboys star. A recent report sees the team sending numerous top draft picks, along with a player to Dallas.

With a massive payday incoming, every team knows what they are getting into. This 26-year-old defensive end is a difference maker, on and off the field. Regardless of if he stays in Dallas or not, it’s clear the Packers are going all-in on pursuing him.

Packers Ready to Send Three Draft Picks and a Player to Land Micah Parsons

Including a player in the Cowboys trade would likely offset some of the cap hit that Micah Parsons is going to come with. After four years in Dallas, Parsons is searching for a new contract that Jerry Jones just isn’t sending his way. Even though he called himself a “for-lifer“, Parsons is now eyeing a new home.

His four-year, $17 million rookie deal is nowhere near the next contract the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year will land. Parsons is set to receive at least that much per year, if not more. There are plenty of teams that could use his presence on defense, but not all of them are willing to pay the star player.

Green Bay has made some key moves in the past two years of free agency. Bringing in Josh Jacobs was a huge success as the team was looking for Aaron Jones successor. Xavier McKinney provided a huge boost to the defense as the team is hoping Nate Hobbs will do the same. If they’re able to land Parsons as well, there’s no doubt this could be the top team in the NFC North.

Polymarket Football reported the latest Packers offer included, “2 first-round picks, a 2nd, and a ‘talented defensive player’.” It’s unknown who the defensive player would be, but it’s clear Green Bay is going all in on their pursuit of the two time First-team All-Pro.

Micah Parsons Presence in Green Bay

Even though he only played 13 games last year, Parsons still recorded 12 sacks. Rashan Gary led the way with 7.5 sacks in Green Bay. Keep in mind, Gary played in all 17 games. Back in 2023, Gary led the way with 9 sacks. Parsons had a career high 14 that season.

Ultimately, the Packers haven’t had someone finish with 10+ sacks since Za’Darius Smith did it in 2020. Currently, Smith isn’t even on a team. Gary has been the go-to guy for this Packers team, but a playmaker like Parsons would set them up perfectly.

Gary signed a four-year, $107 million extension to stay in Green Bay through the 2027 season. The Packers would offload a ton of his contract should he be traded for Parsons, but obviously it would come at a cost. Having Gary and Parsons on the same team could be exactly what Green Bay needs to get back to the Super Bowl.

An interesting number to look at is Parsons total number of tackles. Gary, who played every game, finished with 47. Parsons had 43 in his 13 games. Of the Packers defensive ends, only two other players (who each played 17 games) ended the season with 30+.
