Mike Tomlin Responds to Chants Calling for Steelers to Fire Him

With only two wins in the last seven games, the Pittsburgh Steelers have really started to struggle, as the team heads into Week 14’s divisional showdown with the Baltimore Ravens at .500 with a record of 6-6.

Along with the Steelers potentially being on the verge of seeing their streak of playoff appearances come to an end, longtime head coach Mike Tomlin has come under a lot of pressure heading into the final five games of the regular season.

Steelers fans have started to turn on Tomlin after the team got crushed by Josh Allen‘s Buffalo Bills in Week 13 on their home field of Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

With Tomlin being incredibly successful during his time as Steelers head coach up to this point, it is unfortunate the fans would turn on him, but the last few years Pittsburgh has been underwhelming despite making the playoffs on a consistent basis.

On Tuesday, Tomlin reacted to Steelers fans booing him and calling for his job during the loss to the Bills, via Brooke Pryor of ESPN.

“In general, I agree with them from this perspective: Football is our game,” Tomlin said. ” We are in the sport entertainment business, and so if you root for the Steelers, entertaining them is winning and and so when you’re not winning it’s not entertaining and if you’ve been in this business you understand that.

“And so I respect it, I share frustrations, I understand what makes this thing go and winning is what makes this thing go.”

There’s a chance that this could very well be Tomlin’s last season as head coach of the Steelers, especially if the team fails to make the playoffs. Pittsburgh might be a team on the verge of a drastic overhaul, with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers likely playing his last season in the league.

Only time will tell how things unfold, but right now, things aren’t looking good in Pittsburgh, with the Ravens neck and neck with the storied franchise in the AFC North division standings.

The Steelers have five regular-season games left on the schedule while the team’s chances of making the NFL playoffs hang in the balance.

Although there a couple games left on the schedule that should be easy wins for Rodgers and company, there’s a few distinct challenges along the way, which could determine the team’s fate in terms of whether they’ll be postseason bound.

In Week 14, the Steelers will face a crucial matchup against Lamar Jackson‘s squad on the road at M&T Stadium in Baltimore. It will be one of two matchups with the Ravens in the final five weeks of the season and will easily be the most important games left for Tomlin’s team.

Following the divisional battle against the Ravens, the Steelers will take on the Miami Dolphins (Week 15), Detroit Lions (Week 16), Cleveland Browns (Week 17) and Baltimore for the second and final time in the regular season in Week 18.
