Mike Tyson was approached by a man who accused the boxing legend of robbing him when he was a child… with no hard feelings between the pair.
Tyson returns to the ring on Friday night when he takes on Jake Paul – a man 31 years his junior.
Once the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history, the 58-year-old retired from boxing in 2005 having lose three of his last four fights but has promised to silence his young rival in Texas this week.
Tyson’s journey back to the sport has been chronicled on Netflix’s Countdown to Tyson vs Paul series with the fight being broadcast globally on the streaming service on 15 November.
In the first episode of the series, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ returns to his hometown of Brownsville, one of New York’s poorest and most dangerous neighbourhoods.
Driving through and staring out the window, Tyson says: ‘These are my roots. These people know me, they know who I am. They don’t judge me for being a criminal, robbing people. I used to pickpocket people right, pick bags.’
In the next scene, Tyson is stopped by a man claiming to have been a victim of Tyson’s robbing days.

‘You robbed me when I was eight years old on Amboy and Pitkin,’ the man said as he stops Tyson for a selfie, in reference to Pitkin Avenue and Amboy Street in Brooklyn.
A shocked Tyson responds, ‘I robbed you?’ before turning to the camera and saying, ‘Now he’s blaming me for robbing him.’
The man continued: ‘He robbed me when I was a kid, bro. By the Woolworth’s store. You remember Woolworth’s?’
As the two embrace, Tyson says ‘I’m sorry,’ as the man smiles back. ‘No, don’t worry about it, baby.’
Tyson has made no secret of his criminal past and is said to have been arrested almost 40 times by the age of 13. His natural boxing talent was then discovered by legendary trainer Cus D’Amato, who also became the fighter’s legal guardian when is mother died at the age of 16.
Tyson made his professional boxing debut in 1985 with D’Amato dying six months into his career.
