Taylor Swift is the master of throwing cryptic messages to her fans to decode, and the pop superstar is stirring mystery with a recent change to her music.
While fiance Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are fighting for their playoff lives against the Los Angeles Chargers, Swift is getting her fans talking with some subtle changes to lyrics for two songs. As Rolling Stone reported, the lyrics to two songs from her “Reputation” album were changed on Apple Music without notice, leading to speculation that it could be the prelude for another big career move for Swift.
Rolling Stone reported that lyrics to the songs “I Did Something Bad” and “Delicate” were changed on the music streaming platform, showing that Swift released slightly new versions of both of these songs.
“Though the changes were small, fans took them as Easter eggs for something bigger,” the report noted. “Some were convinced Swift had quietly dropped Reputation (Taylorâs Version) and that they were listening to a re-recording of the singerâs sixth album. What else could explain the crisp sound and revamped vocals? (Well, Dolby Atmos probably). Other fans believed the specific changes to Reputation songs were clues for the vault tracks Swift hinted at earlier this year.”
Swift has not made any announcement regarding the new recordings or whether it could be the start of a new project.
Swift has remained busy in her career, moving seamlessly from her record-smashing “Eras Tour” to the release of this year’s album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” The singer said in an interview with Jimmy Fallon that she has no plans of slowing anytime soon, even if critics think it’s time for her to pass the torch.
“There are also corners that are like, ‘Give someone else a turn. Can’t you just go away so we can talk about how good you were?’ And I’m like, I don’t want to, you know?” Swift said, via People magazine.
Critical Time for Taylor Swift’s Fiance
While speculation builds around Swift and a potential new project, her fiance could be nearing the end of his own career. There have been growing rumors about Kelce’s pending retirement, which comes as the Chiefs head to a disappointing ending to their season.
The Chiefs fell further out of the playoff pictures with last week’s loss to the Houston Texans, which dropped the team to 6-7. They are facing a must-win game against the Chargers, who already beat the Chiefs in the season opener.
Kelce opened up about the team’s struggles this season, saying on  Wednesdayâs episode of the âNew Heightsâ podcast that it’s tough to accept that his team might miss the playoffs after making three straight Super Bowl appearances with two wins.
âLooking at the playoffs, this is a tough reality to be in, especially with how weâve always found a way in years past,” Kelce said.
Kelce added that it’s especially frustrating that he can’t pull his team out of their funk.
âI keep thinking if I show up to work and I put in the work and I fix the issues through my practice habits and through perfecting the game plan and my fundamentals and what Iâm being taught, and go out there and try and play my [expletive] off for my guys next to me, itâs all going to come together like it has in years past,â Kelce said. âAnd this year it is just not, man.â
