Fans were left baffled by the conflicting updates

The former Chelsea left-back joined Barca two years ago and played 45 times for them.

In a club statement, the LaLiga side said: “We would like to place on record their appreciation for his commitment and dedication, and wish him all the best and every success in the future.”

Barca then went on to say that Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo were returning to their parent clubs Atletico Madrid and Manchester City after both spent the campaign there on loan.

However, they quickly back tracked and deleted the names of the Portuguese duo, with their futures now unclear.

And in a huge twist, Felix and Cancelo are reportedly in talks with Barcelona over staying at the Nou Camp.

Both are represented by super agent Jorge Mendes.
