Just as the Cowboys are crawling their way back to full health with a bit of momentum on their side and wind in their sails, another odd injury cropped up on Thursday at practice. Left tackle Tyler Guyton was listed as “limited” in practice with a new glute injury, putting his status for Sunday’s tussle with the Broncos into question.
Guyton has been banged up throughout the season thus far, suffering a knee injury in training camp and a shoulder injury in mid-September. He missed the Week 5 win over the Jets with a concussion he’d suffered in the previous game.
As CBS’s Garrett Podell wrote on Twitter/X, the Cowboys are mostly healthy, and the Broncos are just about the same.
Podell noted: “The #DallasCowboys added LT Tyler Guyton (glute) to the injury report today as a limited participant. Otherwise, no other changes from yesterday’s report for the Cowboys. The Denver Broncos are as healthy as it gets with both of their players on the injury report fully practicing.”
Tyler Guyton to Line Up vs. Nik Bonitto
It would be a decidedly bad week for the Cowboys’ offensive line to not be at its best, especially with Guyton slated to protect Dak Prescott‘s blind side against one of the best pass rushers in the NFL–Nik Bonitto, who is third in the NFL with eight sacks.
Guyton was the Cowboys’ first-round pick in 2024, and after struggling to find his fit as a rookie last season, his second year has not been much better. He has allowed 16 hurries and four penalties this season, and has a Pro Football Focus grade of just 48.0, which ranks 68th out of 77 tackles in the NFL.
He had been healthy on Wednesday, so now, it looks as though Guyton will either be out on Sunday or not quite at 100% against Bonitto.
Cowboys Getting Players Healthy
Guyton joined a long list of limited participants, including fellow lineman Tyler Smith (knee) and some hopeful returnees like cornerback Shavon Revel and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. Cornerback Trevon Diggs was listed as out altogether with a concussion, and safety Donovan Wilson was the other Cowboys who was a firm “out” on Thursday.
Caelen Carson, Jonathan Mingo, Kenneth Murray and Mazi Smith were listed as full participants.

Cowboys ‘Finding Our Stride’
Going to Denver for Week 8 won’t be an easy task for the Cowboys, but coach Brian Schottenheimer is hopeful that the team is turning a corner.
Said Schottenheimer: “Overall, I feel like, hopefully, we are finding our stride. No one cares where we are today, that doesn’t matter. What matters is where we are in January. I talk to the team about two things. One is fundamentals. A wise old coach with bobble glasses (his father, Marty) used to talk about, you have to focus on fundamentals more in late October, November, December because most teams don’t. So I talked to those guys about that.
“The other thing I talked about is perspective. Keep your perspective. The world didn’t end when we lost to Carolina. You start a new week. We got the win, we played good and now we are on to Denver.”
