NFL Announces Major Josh Allen News After Matchup With Buccaneers

Bills quarterback Josh Allen had an outstanding performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Allen threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns to two interceptions while rushing for 40 yards and three scores.

The 29-year-old quarterback helped the Bills beat Tampa Bay 44-32, and Allen didn’t just get a win for his outstanding play.

NFL Named Josh Allen AFC Player of the Week

The NFL has announced that Allen has been named the AFC’s Player of the Week for Week 11.

Allen has now earned his 17th AFC Player of the Week award, setting a record for the most by any player since the Bills selected him in 2018.

Even though Allen took home a high honor, he told reporters after the game that he didn’t think he played well.

“I didn’t play too well,” Allen said on Sunday, via Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper. “I don’t think so. Obviously, in the second half we got things rolling. There was just too many throws that I feel like I don’t miss. There’s really no excuse for that. It’s just going out there and, again, trusting the guys and I need to make those plays when the opportunities are there. I’m confident that we can still get things going there.”

Allen has high standards for his play because he’s one of the best players in the NFL. However, he can’t be too critical of his performance, as he scored six touchdowns.

Of course, Allen is going to make some mistakes as every quarterback does, and throwing two interceptions doesn’t hurt when he makes up for it by scoring six touchdowns.

Allen wasn’t the only person in the Bills organization to receive a high honor after the game.

Sean McDermott Wins His 100th Game

On Sunday, head coach Sean McDermott celebrated his 100th career NFL victory, sharing his enthusiasm about the significant milestone.

“Very grateful. This is a team honor, it really is,” McDermott said after the game, via Buffalo Bills.com’s Sydney Ciano Brandon (Beane), myself, being here for the time that we’ve been here, his staff, my staff, collectively as an organization, very grateful for it. It never is about one person. Like any win, it’s about the team. So, we learn, we grow, we move forward. Grateful for the opportunity.”

McDermott and Allen have been one of the best head coach/quarterback duos in the NFL the last five years, but the only thing missing is a Super Bowl appearance and a win.

The Bills have been close to making the Super Bowl but have fallen short, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in four of the last five postseasons.

Currently, the Chiefs hold a 5-5 record and, as things stand, wouldn’t make it to the playoffs if the season ended today. This situation could open the door for the Bills to emerge as the favorites in the AFC. There’s still plenty of football left to be played this season, but if the Chiefs drop one or two more games, they likely won’t secure a playoff spot this year.
