The Los Angeles Chargers knocked the Kansas City Chiefs out of the playoffs in a bittersweet win in Week 15. This will be the first time KC will not be in the postseason since the 2014 season.
It was a huge defensive effort from the Chargers as the injuries piled up on offense, with the Bolts’ defense holding the Chiefs offense to just 13 points in the matchup.
The defense held Patrick Mahomes to less than 200 passing yards in the game (albeit the QB suffered an injury with around two minutes left in the game) and held the rushing game to just 49 yards.
The game had controversy following some hard hits, which left a member of the Chiefs receiving core to be placed in the concussion protocol.
Chargers Defender Gets Handed Two Fines

Los Angeles Chargers safety Tony Jefferson was delivered two fines after the team’s Week 15 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs after a helmet-to-helmet hit on wide receiver Tyquan Thornton in the fourth quarter.
The hit on Thornton, which also resulted in a flag, led to a scuffle between the Chiefs’ offense and the Chargers’ defense. Jefferson was ejected from the game following the scuffle and left the field, giving the Chiefs an obscene gesture when leaving the field.
The NFL fined Jefferson $7,111 for both actions, forcing him to pay $14,222 in total.
The defender apologized to the Kansas City fans for his actions after the game, saying that he was in the moment and understands that he is classier than what happened on the field.
Thornton suffered a concussion from the hit and remains in the protocol call ahead of the Chiefs’ Week 16 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Following the game in Week 16, Tony Jefferson took to social media and posted a video of the hit and him celebrating a teammate, which drew some backlash from Chiefs fans.
Jefferson was quick to respond when he saw that he received fines from the Kansas City Chiefs game.
The safety quote reposted Tom Pelissero’s X post (formerly known as Twitter), responding with one word and a gif of NBA star LeBron James bobbing his head up and down while listening to music, appearing to show that he is not bothered by the fine.
Chargers players have been fined 11 times this season.
Los Angeles is still in play to win the division in the final three games of the season, but they will need the Denver Broncos (who have the best record in the league) to drop the remainder of their games.
