Not much has gone right for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2025 campaign. They have crawled out to a 3-8 record so far, and with Jacoby Brissett outplaying Kyler Murray under center, it appears as if the former No. 1 overall pick’s time with the Cardinals could be coming to an end.
In Week 12, Arizona suffered another crushing loss, as they were handed a 27-24 overtime defeat by the Jacksonville Jaguars. As if losing wasn’t bad enough, wide receiver Andre Baccellia found himself facing the wrath of the league ahead of Week 13, as he got punished for his actions in the team’s latest loss in the 2025 season.
Andre Baccellia Gets Punished by the NFL
Baccellia went undrafted in 2020, before latching on with the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots as a rookie. In 2021, Baccellia found his way to the Cardinals, and he’s been with the team ever since then, working as a reserve wide receiver and special teams ace when he’s been on the active roster for the team.
With several wide receivers dealing with injuries in recent weeks, Baccellia has found himself on the active roster for Arizona’s two most recent games. His production has been limited, as he has just one reception for five yards, but Baccellia has also been making his mark by chipping on special teams as well.
Against the Jaguars, Baccellia ended up making too much of a mark, as a dangerous play caught the league’s attention. On the opening kickoff of the game, Baccellia was flagged for unnecessary roughness away from the play, which cost his team 15 yards. In a game where the Cards lost by only three points, every miscue looks worse in hindsight.
Baccellia’s penalty not only cost his team in the moment, but it also cost him in the long run. With the league looping around to hand out punishments and fines for plays that break several of their safety protocols, the former undrafted playmaker ended up getting docked $5,722 for his aforementioned penalty early in this game.

Based on the amount of the fine, it’s clear that Baccellia’s actions weren’t totally egregious, but it’s a play that the NFL doesn’t want to be a part of its games. As a result, Baccellia received a fine, and chances are he will think twice about doing something that could come back around to bite him in the future.
Moving on to Week 13, the Cardinals have a difficult matchup against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that is desperate to get back in the win column. The Bucs have lost four of their past five games, but they are finally beginning to get healthy after dealing with injuries all season long, which could make Arizona’s task more difficult. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
