NFL Announces Punishment for Rising Giants Player

The New York Giants have a new life in them, which is a wonderful thing for the Big Apple. It’s incredible what a new quarterback can do for a franchise, and Jaxson Dart has really energized this team.

Dart, their newest signal-caller, is already performing at high levels. The New York Giants picked Jaxson Dart with the No. 25 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, and they traded up for him. The deal was with the Houston Texans, and the Giants traded their No. 34 and No. 99 picks, as well as a 2026 third-round pick, to the Texans for the move. Now, that gamble is paying off.

But, it’s not all sunshine all the time for the Giants. One New York player just got in trouble with the NFL for actions during the win over the Philadelphia Eagles, and he’s paying the price.

Every week, the league penalizes players for conduct in the previous week’s games. The NFL states on their website that these actions are “to protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity, the NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed on a set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures.”

The new roster of players getting hit with punishments goes up every Saturday afternoon. One Giants player is on this week’s tally.

The NFL is fining Giants safety Tyler Nubin $10,324 for “unnecessary roughness” for a “hip drop tackle.” Nubin registered nine tackles, six solo, during the Giants’ 34-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, so he’s a rising star.

The news came out in the NFL’s report for Week 6. The highest fines for this week went to L’Jarius Sneed of Tennessee, who has to pay $23,186 for “unnecessary roughness” for “use of a helmet” and Patrick Queen of the Steelers for a “blow to the head/neck” of the Browns‘ quarterback.

But, all is not lost. According to the NFL, those fines will go to the Professional Athletes Foundation to “support legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.” So, it’s a good cause.

New York Giants Back Against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8

Dart is doing fantastic, but Michael Florio of the NFL’s website seems a bit skeptical. In a piece out on Wednesday, October 15, he urged fantasy players to “sit” Dart in Week 7.

“I was correct when I previously said Dart had breakout-QB1 upside as a rookie, but I was wrong to doubt him last week against the Eagles,” he said in the piece. “Unfortunately, I’m in that same boat this week, with Dart going to Denver to play the best defense in the NFL. The Broncos have generated pressure and sacks at the highest rate in the NFL — and it’s not particularly close. (They create a sack 13 percent of the time; the next-closest team is at nine percent.)”

The Giants, of course, had a last-minute loss to the Broncos last weekend, and the rest is football history. Let’s hope they bounce back on Sunday, October 26, against the Eagles. Their NFL bye week isn’t until Week 14, so they won’t have a break for a while.
