The Week 6 game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans has led to several players losing some money. While it wasn’t the chippiest game of the season, there were some illegal hits that resulted in penalties.
The NFL decided to issue some fines from the matchup. First, Raiders starting linebacker Elandon Roberts was fined $16,888 for an unnecessary roughness penalty he got use of the helmet in the second quarter of the game.
Titans players got hit harder, as three players were fined, all for unnecessary roughness. Linebacker Dre’Mont Jones is losing $11,593 for a facemask. Start defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons was fined $12,172 for striking/tripping/kicking/kneeing. Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed got the biggest fine from the game, as he has to pay $23,186 use of the helmet.
The Titans were the only team to have three separate players fined in Week 6, so there’s obviously a lot to clean up. Head coach Brian Callahan was fired after the loss, and now Mike McCoy is taking over. Perhaps he can get the team to play some cleaner football going forward.
Raiders Have to Face Rashee Rice in Week 7
The Raiders should have a much tougher test in Week 7, as they’re heading to Kansas City to play the Chiefs. To make things more difficult, wide receiver Rashee Rice is finally coming back from suspension. He’s very hyped to get back on the field.
“This week was really big. It’s been a while since I got to play in a regular-season game with my guys, so I’m very excited to be out there to go out there and compete,” Rice said Friday.
Though he hasn’t been able to play in over a year, Rice has been staying ready.
“I’ve been looking forward to this probably for — I think it’s been like 380-something days that I haven’t played a regular-season game,” Rice said. “And despite the regular season, we still have a whole offseason before that, where we were training super hard to get ready for that prior season. So, it’s been a long time coming. And that time’s finally here.”
During his time off, he learned a lot about himself.
“I learned that I love the game of football,” Rice said. “Probably my second love right there. Not only do I love the game of football, but I was able to realize how strong I am mentally, being able to face a lot of adversity.”
Raiders-Chiefs Rivalry Alive and Well
There aren’t many teams around the NFL that the Raiders would rather beat than the Chiefs. The rivalry has been one-sided for a long time, but the teams still don’t like each other.
The Chiefs have been the better and more talented team, but the Raiders still show up to play them and play them tough. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid believes that there’s something special about the rivalry.
“It has a little bit of that college atmosphere to it where you have a team that you’ve had a rivalry with for many years and you feel privileged to be a part of that,” Reid said, via Raiders.com.
