The Chicago Bears are exactly one month away from the start of their 2025 NFL training camp following an announcement from the league about report dates.
On Wednesday, the NFL announced dates on which the Bears and the other 31 teams in the league will report to training camp. For the Bears, rookies will report to Halas Hall on July 19, while veteran players will arrive July 22 ahead of their first camp practice.
The Bears have not yet released a comprehensive practice schedule for 2025’s camp, but the league has announced their preseason slate along with dates. Chicago will open its preseason at home against the Miami Dolphins on August 10, before hosting the Buffalo Bills at Soldier Field on August 17 and visiting the Kansas City Chiefs on August 22.
The Bears must also make their initial 53-man roster cuts before the 4 p.m. ET deadline on August 26 — the first Tuesday following the final weekend of the 2025 preseason.
Bears Will Hold Joint Practices With Dolphins, Bills
While the Bears have not unveiled their full practice schedule for training camp, we do know at least a few specific dates because of planned joint sessions with other teams.
During the first week of the preseason, the Bears will host the Dolphins in Lake Forest, Illinois, for a joint practice on August 8 ahead of their preseason opener. They will then host another session with the Bills the following week on August 15 before their second preseason game, giving them on-field time with opponents to test their progress.
The Bears are one of three NFC North teams that have multiple joint practices on their camp schedule. The Detroit Lions will also host the Dolphins on August 13 and then bring in the Houston Texans for a second joint session on August 21.
Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers will start with a visit to the Indianapolis Colts on August 14 before returning to Green Bay to host the Seattle Seahawks on August 21.
Which Are Bears’ Biggest Positional Battles for 2025?
The Bears are still more than a month away from their first practice of training camp, but some of the biggest position battles have already started to crystallize after OTAs.
For instance, the competition for the No. 2 outside cornerback job opposite All-Pro Jaylon Johnson could get intense. The Bears will welcome back 2023 second-round pick Tyrique Stevenson as the frontrunner for the starting job, but Terell Smith — a 2023 fifth-rounder — and fifth-round rookie Zah Frazier are in the hunt and looking to push him as they prepare for the 2025 season in front of a new defensive coaching staff.
The Bears must also find their replacement for strong-side linebacker Jack Sanborn, whom Chicago did not tender as a restricted free agent and saw sign with the Dallas Cowboys in free agency. In the draft, the Bears took a major chance on selecting Ruben Hyppolite II in the fourth round, but they also have 2023 fifth-rounder Noah Sewell trying to earn a bigger role — with some pass-rushing utility Dennis Allen may like.
The Bears will officially kick off their 2025 regular-season schedule with a home game against the Vikings for Monday Night Football on September 8.
