The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2025 season with one of the deepest rosters, and collections of young talent of any team across the league, ahead of defending the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy.
General manager Howie Roseman has melded ascending homegrown talent around top acquisitions like running back Saquon Barkley, wide receiver A.J. Brown, previously unheralded linebacker Zack Baun, and dominant defensive lineman Jalen Carter seamlessly into a team built to compete for multiple Super Bowls.
In my annual survey of current NFL executives, coaches, and players, there is a significant belief that the Eagles are the team to beat, in 2025.
“The Eagles have the tools to repeat,” an NFC defensive player tells me, on the condition of anonymity to speak freely. “Especially if the defense gels quickly. The Ravens also loaded up this offseason, and I think they are built to make a run.”
Of the 14 panelists surveyed, eight listed the Eagles as one of the teams predicted to reach the Super Bowl, including matchups against the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and one vote for the Indianapolis Colts defying expectations and winning the AFC.
Philadelphia enters this season among the favorites to win the Super Bowl, and the talent on the roster combined with the big-game experience that comes with two conference championships in the past three years certainly helps.
However, if the Eagles are to hoist the Lombardi Trophy for a second consecutive February, they’ll be just the third franchise since the turn of the century, joining the New England Patriots and Chiefs as repeat champions.
Jalen Hurts Gets MVP Love From NFL Insiders

Mitchell Leff | Getty There is a belief among some inside the NFL that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is an MVP candidate to watch in 2025.
Jalen Hurts took home Super Bowl MVP honors last February, and if Philadelphia is going to see similar success, the Eagles’ quarterback could find himself in the MVP race.
One year removed from passing for 2,903 years with 18 touchdowns to just five interceptions, in 15 games, Hurts received one vote from respondents in the category of “MVP Candidate Flying Under The Radar.”
Packers quarterback Jordan Love was the top vote-getter in the category, with Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff not far behind.
However, given Hurts’ significant value to the Eagles’ offense, not just winning from the pocket but also excelling in tush-push situations and his mobility creating explosive plays downfield, there’s little question that his performance could be a determining factor in Philadelphia’s ceiling in 2025.
