Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford stole headlines during the offseason amid trade speculation, gauging his value on the open market, and a back injury. Over the first two weeks of the 2025 season, though, Stafford is garnering attention for a different reason.
That includes mention by the NFL’s social media team.
The latest example came in Week 2, when the Rams defeated the Tennessee Titans in a 33-19 contest that the offense took over as it wore on.
Rams QB Matthew Stafford Wows With ‘Ridiculous’ Pass

Stafford has completed 71% of his passes for 543 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception in the Rams’ two games this season, and he was in control again in Week 2.
The two-time Pro Bowler and one-time Super Bowl champion posted a 298-2-1 line on 69.7% against the Titans. His day included an attention-grabbing throw to wide receiver Davante Adams from an arm angle that Underdog’s Sosa Kremenjas called “ridiculous” in a post on X.
“no window too small for Matthew Stafford,” the NFL posted on X on September 16. “Sheeesh.”
“This was such a sick throw from Rams QB Matthew Stafford,” Turf Show Times’ Blaine Grishak posted on X, along with different angles of the play. “Avoids the pass rush and proceeds to throw an accurate ball off platform, just out of the reach of the LB, and then only where Davante Adams can grab it.”
Davante Adams Impressed With Matthew Stafford

The Athletic’s Nate Atkins posed the question of whether this version of Stafford is the “most effective” the Rams QB has been during his career. Part of that is an already-explosive offense that added a six-time Pro Bowler in Adams.
After the contest, Adams raved about Stafford’s approach to adversity.
“To be honest, the most impressive thing of me watching him today was his demeanor after he threw that pick. Just watching how he just – I mean, I told him during the game, I was like, ‘Bro, you are just the coolest dude I’ve been around,” Adams told reporters on September 14. “He’s not cussing, he’s not blaming anybody. He’s just – it just kind of was like it happened in practice.”
“You could just tell he’s dialed in, locked in, not going to let stuff like that rattle him. And that kind of radiates throughout the rest of the team, just that type of poise and confidence.”
Adams had a banner day himself in the win over the Titans. He had six receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown. It showcased his strong rapport with Stafford that the Rams’ duo is only just beginning.
Matthew Stafford Owns Up to Potentially Costly Mistake

Stafford joked postgame that Adams “missed” his helmet slam. Stafford also joked that he was “glad” his playmaker did not see the outburst, adding, “We’ll act like it didn’t happen.” The QB then got serious about remaining poised.
He praised Rams head coach Sean McVay’s playcalling. He also said the performance “wasn’t perfect,” but they “ended up with some points, which was good.”
“I was pissed at myself because, I mean, that’s just the one thing you can’t do, right? Go three-and-out, punt it back, didn’t give them a long field. But just – it was a heck of a play by Cody Barton,” Stafford said. “I didn’t think he was going to get all the way there and made a great play. Got to give him credit.
“Only thing to do is keep playing. I can’t just sit there and be pissed about it all day; I got to get mad about it, figure it out. I knew exactly right when [it] left my hand what the deal was. Okay, well, move on. And what’s the one thing I can do? I touched it every play. Let me go make up for it right now and play smart but aggressive in the second half. And I feel like Coach called it that way, I played it that way.”
Up next for Stafford and the Rams are the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles.
