NFL Writer States One Area Of Concern For The Bills This Season

The Buffalo Bills‘ official training camp opens up on Wednesday, July 23rd, and all eyes are going to be on what the team can do this season.

Buffalo is one of the betting favorites to win the Super Bowl this season, but they need to get over losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs.

Four of the last five postseasons, the Bills have fallen to the Chiefs, and they must ensure it doesn’t happen again this season, or changes may be made to the roster and coaching staff.

The Bills have already made a few changes this past offseason, and one of them was adding former Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa.

Bills’ Pass Rush Is An Area Of Concern

Buffalo needed to upgrade the pass rush since they couldn’t stop Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs, but Sports Illustrated’s Karl Rasmussen thinks the pass rush is still one of the biggest concerns on the team.

“The Bills have a ton of new faces on their defense this year, many of whom are competing for spots on the defensive line. While they’ll have several returning veterans, too, it may take some time for the coaching staff to determine the best group for success in the trenches,” Rasmussen wrote. “Having reigning MVP Josh Allen on the field as frequently as possible will be important for Buffalo, so they’ll need their pass rush to be effective to shut down opposing drives. With so many new faces, they may need to iron out some bumps early on.”

The Bills must improve this season at pressuring other teams’ quarterbacks, or they will not reach their goal of winning the Super Bowl.

This season might be the best year for the Bills to finally win it all, given the quality of their roster, quarterback Josh Allen’s Most Valuable Player of the Year Award season, and the Chiefs’ potential step back.

If the Bills’ defense can add a few more sacks and get after the quarterback in critical spots, then the Bills will likely be able to win it all.

2025 Could Be The Last Buffalo Season With The Full Team

This could be the last season that Buffalo has its full squad, as running back James Cook will be a free agent at the end of the season, and there have been no signs that the team is willing to bring him back.

If Buffalo doesn’t sign Cook back, then the team better go all out this season, since it could be the last time Cook and Allen are lined up in the same backfield.

The Bills will open their 2025 season against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 1, and that would be an excellent opportunity for the new Buffalo pass rush to showcase to the NFL that they are one of the best in the league when they take down two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
