Nick Sirianni’s Bold Message to Team Ahead of Super Bowl Defense: ‘Don’t Drink the Perfume’

The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t just preparing for another title run, they’re defending a throne.  And head coach Nick Sirianni wants to make sure his players don’t get too comfortable sitting on it.

In a recent episode of the team’s behind-the-scenes series Unscripted, Sirianni made it clear: last year’s celebrations are over. The climb begins again.

Sirianni on Handling Success: “Sniff It. Don’t Drink It.”

Fresh off a Super Bowl win and with the league’s most loaded roster, headlined by a young core still entering its prime, his Philadelphia Eagles are expected to field another dominate team in 2025 but Sirianni isn’t letting his team get caught in the hype.

“It’s the monotony of every single day,” he said to open the episode. “Going through the same process. Because it’s the process that dictates results. There’s no shortcuts in it.”

That tone carried into his first address to the team.

“The celebration is over,” Sirianni repeated. “Preparation is here.”

With no confetti left to sweep and all eyes on a repeat, Sirianni delivered a powerful warning about the new challenge facing his locker room: not adversity – but success.

“Last year, we talked a lot about handling adversity,” he said. “Now it’s different. You’ve got to handle success. That’s a different animal.”

Then came the mic-drop line every competitor should memorize:

“Treat praise like perfume. Sniff it. Don’t drink it. It’s poison.”

Philly’s New Challenge: A Title Defense

The Eagles proved a point in 2024. Now they’ll spend all of 2025 defending it. Every team in the NFL is coming for them and Sirianni knows entitlement is the quickest way to lose your edge.

That’s why the message isn’t about what was, but about what will be and with rising stars all over the roster, the opportunity is massive if his team stays focused.

Philly’s Super Bowl Blueprint: Young Stars Shining Bright

Philadelphia’s dominance last year wasn’t just about proven vets. It was the explosion of young talent, particularly on defense that set the tone.

Rookie cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean looked like 10-year pros, and Jalen Carter became one of the most feared defensive linemen in football. DeJean’s pick-six in the Super Bowl, after Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes was flushed out of the pocket by the Eagles’ relentless pass rush, was the defensive play of the year – and a sign of what’s to come.

Now, the Eagles have added even more firepower. Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell, once projected as a mid-first-rounder, fell to Philly at No. 31 after the team traded up and Texas safety Andrew Mukuba, drafted on Day 2, could also carve out an early role in a secondary that’s already turning heads.

These aren’t just prospects. They’re potential difference-makers and in a locker room built to repeat, they’ll be asked to grow up fast.
