The Philadelphia Eagles arenât just preparing for another title run, theyâre defending a throne. And head coach Nick Sirianni wants to make sure his players donât get too comfortable sitting on it.
In a recent episode of the teamâs behind-the-scenes series Unscripted, Sirianni made it clear: last yearâs celebrations are over. The climb begins again.
Sirianni on Handling Success: âSniff It. Donât Drink It.â
Fresh off a Super Bowl win and with the leagueâs most loaded roster, headlined by a young core still entering its prime, his Philadelphia Eagles are expected to field another dominate team in 2025 but Sirianni isnât letting his team get caught in the hype.
âItâs the monotony of every single day,â he said to open the episode. âGoing through the same process. Because itâs the process that dictates results. Thereâs no shortcuts in it.â
That tone carried into his first address to the team.
âThe celebration is over,â Sirianni repeated. âPreparation is here.â
With no confetti left to sweep and all eyes on a repeat, Sirianni delivered a powerful warning about the new challenge facing his locker room: not adversity – but success.
âLast year, we talked a lot about handling adversity,â he said. âNow itâs different. Youâve got to handle success. Thatâs a different animal.â
Then came the mic-drop line every competitor should memorize:
âTreat praise like perfume. Sniff it. Donât drink it. Itâs poison.â
Phillyâs New Challenge: A Title Defense
The Eagles proved a point in 2024. Now theyâll spend all of 2025 defending it. Every team in the NFL is coming for them and Sirianni knows entitlement is the quickest way to lose your edge.
Thatâs why the message isnât about what was, but about what will be and with rising stars all over the roster, the opportunity is massive if his team stays focused.
Phillyâs Super Bowl Blueprint: Young Stars Shining Bright
Philadelphiaâs dominance last year wasnât just about proven vets. It was the explosion of young talent, particularly on defense that set the tone.
Rookie cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean looked like 10-year pros, and Jalen Carter became one of the most feared defensive linemen in football. DeJeanâs pick-six in the Super Bowl, after Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes was flushed out of the pocket by the Eaglesâ relentless pass rush, was the defensive play of the year – and a sign of whatâs to come.
Now, the Eagles have added even more firepower. Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell, once projected as a mid-first-rounder, fell to Philly at No. 31 after the team traded up and Texas safety Andrew Mukuba, drafted on Day 2, could also carve out an early role in a secondary thatâs already turning heads.
These arenât just prospects. Theyâre potential difference-makers and in a locker room built to repeat, theyâll be asked to grow up fast.
