NOEL GALLAGHER has ruthlessly claimed that the current Manchester City and Liverpool teams would have “ANNIHILATED” Manchester United’s iconic 1999 treble winning side.
The Oasis guitarist is a Man City super fan and never passes up an opportunity to hit out at his cross-city rivals.

But, first, he found time to half-praise the manager of the team who have come closest to challenging City’s supremacy in recent years – Jurgen Klopp.
He told The Athletic: “I don’t like the chest-beating and all that s***. But I’ve met him a couple of times.
“He was a bit tall for my liking and he was a bit of a sore loser — the grass was too wet, it was a bit windy. But he was a lovely dude.
“His teams were unbelievable and, if it wasn’t for Pep Guardiola, they would have won three leagues. That Liverpool team would have destroyed pretty much every team that came before us.”
By that, he includes the historic United squad that won the treble under Fergie.
He added: “We would have annihilated them. And Liverpool would have f***ing annihilated them, too.”
“In 1999, football was not what it is today. I was watching Sky Sports the other day when they showed an old United game in their pomp.
“There was nobody pressing. One player lofts the ball out one way, another player lofts it back. It was so slow.

“Then I watch City play Liverpool and it’s the best football I’ve ever seen.
“So when people ask, ‘Would today’s City beat Ferguson’s United side?’, the answer is, ‘Yes, I’ve seen the evidence’.”
The hitmaker also responded to Gary Neville’s recent comments, after the Sky Sports pundit had a pop about Gallagher living in London.
Neville, 49, told the BBC: “He’s been a big part of Manchester’s history but he lives in London.
“Do you know what I mean, Noel? Don’t talk about Manchester… you live in London. 25 years he’s not been here.”
To keep their ongoing feud alive, Gallagher said: “Is that the best he’s got? That I’ve lived in London for 25 years?
“When he and Jamie Carragher came along, they were a breath of fresh air. I liked them. They were fresh out of the dressing room, fresh off the pitch, and they knew what they were talking about.
“We’re at a tipping point with those two now, though, where I just think, ‘You’re full of s***, the pair of you’.
“Neville can’t see past that United team. And fair enough, that’s the team he played for. I just think they’re becoming dinosaurs. They’re stale.”
