Nottingham Forest line up stunning transfer swoop for Michail Antonio as West Ham plan summer clearout

NOTTINGHAM FOREST are lining up a sensational swoop for their former striker Michail Antonio.

The 34-year-old is expected to leave West Ham this summer as part of a massive clear-out under new manager Julen Lopetegui.

And the Jamaican hitman – who has scored 67 goals in 254 games for the Hammers – is believed to be deemed surplus to requirements.

A number of clubs, including two in America, are monitoring developments.

Antonio is also attracting interest in Germany with RB Leipzig heading a queue of clubs keen on securing his services.

But SunSport understands two Premier League clubs are watching his availability with interest.

One is his former club Nottingham Forest – where Antonio remains a firm favourite with fans.

In a previous visit to the City Ground, Antonio received a standing ovation from Forest supporters.

They clearly hold fond memories of the player who spent one season at Forest when they were in the Championship.

He bagged 14 goals and the same number of assists in the 2014/15 campaign to help them finish 14th.

Forest see the player as an option to help score the goals they need to secure another season in the Premier League.

But they aren’t the only top-flight club interested.

Fulham are also believed to be monitoring developments and could make their move as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Antonio – who is a hugely popular member  of the West Ham squad – is thought to prefer the idea of staying in the Premier League if the right deals come along.

He believes he can still play for at least two more seasons at the highest level despite a recent season plagued by injuries and stop-start appearances.
