Packers Get Concerning News on TE Tucker Kraft After Breakout Game

The Green Bay Packers have gotten off to an impressive start to the 2025 NFL season, with Jordan Love and company looking like a legitimate Super Bowl title contender, sporting a 2-0 record heading into Week 3.

Although everything has been trending in the right direction for the storied franchise, the Packers received some concerning news on Thursday about promising third-year tight end Tucker Kraft.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Kraft suffered a knee injury during Thursday’s practice. Fortunately for Green Bay, the injured knee is not expected to be a long-term problem.

As Rapoport points out, Kraft is coming off his best game on the NFL level, making a significant impact during last week’s win against Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. Kraft is quickly turning into one of Love’s favorite targets in the passing game, especially with up-and-coming wide receiver Jayden Reed out indefinitely after going down in the season opener against the division rival Detroit Lions.

Injuries Piling Up on Offense for the Undefeated Packers

Reed underwent surgery on a broken collarbone as well as a Jones fracture in his left foot, which could sideline him for quite some time. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, however, believes his star wideout will be back at some point during the season.

“He’s going to miss a lot of time,” LaFleur said via ESPN. “We’ll see how fast he can recover and heal, and certainly I would expect him back at some point this season, but obviously it’s a big blow to us.”

Reed was expected to be Love’s go-to wide receiver this season, with Tucker potentially taking the next step to become one of the better tight ends in the league. The Packers will have to pivot heading into Week 3’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns on the road at Huntington Park Stadium.

Packers’ Dynamic Offense Will Endure

Despite losing one of their best wide receiver for potentially a considerable amount of time and Kraft possibly also on the shelf, the Packers’ offense might be able to get by. The next three games will be against teams that are struggling or dealing with their own injury concerns.

The Browns are a bit of a mess at 0-2, relying on veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to lead the way moving forward. Then there’s the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4, who barely got by the New York Giants last week in a shootout, showing they have their issues on defense after shipping Micah Parsons to Green Bay.

After their bye week in Week 5, the Packers will head back home to take on the Cincinnati Bengals, who are currently undefeated, but just lost superstar quarterback Joe Burrow to a toe injury that will keep him off the field for at least three months.

There’s a decent chance the Packers are in a good position to continue getting wins over the next four games, with some of their best offensive weapons potentially stuck watching from the sideline. It’ll be a true test for Love and the team to see if this squad is the real deal in 2025.
