The Green Bay Packers already had quite the injury list in Week 13, with the team being down six major contributors on offense or defense ahead of the Thanksgiving win at the Detroit Lions, when things got worse during the game itself.
The Packers’ best defensive lineman, Devonte Wyatt, suffered an ankle injury that ultimately became a season-ending one mid-game, and like last week, the team has numerous players on the injury report ahead of Week 14’s critical in-division bout against the Chicago Bears – the winner of which will ascend to the top spot in the ultra-competitive NFC North division.
However, a bright spot in all of this; despite having a massive 18 players on the injury report on Wednesday; is that only three players did not practice. One of which, Wyatt, is expected to be duly moved to injured reserve.
“Packers with a lot of names on the injury report but only Savion Williams, Lukas Van Ness and Devonte Wyatt (soon to be put on IR) were DNPs.” Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote on Wednesday.
Both Williams and Van Ness were kept out of practice due to foot injuries that kept them out of Week 13’s game against the Lions.
Lukas Van Ness Has Had An Injury Hit Season In 2025
Prior to the season’s start, it was re-iterated that the former 13th overall pick was being primed for his breakout year – with general manager Brian Gutekunst stating at the time his expecting of a “big jump” from the Iowa man in year 3.
And he was primed to do just that until both the Packers traded for Micah Parsons, who took Van Ness’ starting spot in the lineup, and third year man suffered a foot injury that has limited him to just six total snaps over the past seven weeks.
It seems like Van Ness is still not ready to go, and the team may have to wait longer than just Week 14 to see him return to the field in a full bill of health.
Savion Williams Still Not Ready To Return To Practice, Golden Limited
Despite the offseason additions of the rookies Williams and first round pick, Matthew Golden, the Packers’ receiving corps has not quite hit the mark.
The team’s leading pass-catcher earlier on in the year – tight end Tucker Kraft, was on track for a 1,000 yard season before tearing his ACL in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers.
And since then the load has started to become more evenly distributed between Jordan Love’s other targets like Dontayvion Wicks, Romeo Doubs and the returning Christian Watson.
But there has still been some room for participation from Williams, who has looked explosive when on the field, both on special teams as a returner, from the backfield on jet sweeps, and catching the ball as a pure receiver.
Yet he is still nursing foot injury as well. Although, fortunately for Green Bay, Golden has returned to limited practice participation and could be available to play this weekend against the Bears.
