All eyes are going to be on the Kansas City Chiefs entering the 2025 campaign. After getting demolished in Super Bowl LIX by the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs were busy over the offseason attempting to build their roster back up. Of course, everything revolves around superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is coming off a down year by his standards in 2024.
While the Chiefs only lost two games last season, they weren’t as dominant as fans have become accustomed to seeing them be. That included some unusually lackluster play from Mahomes throughout the season. However, entering the 2025 campaign, Mahomes issued a bold prediction that will surely catch the attention of the rest of the league.
Patrick Mahomes’ Bold Take on Chiefs 2025 Squad
Mahomes has widely been regarded as the best quarterback in the NFL for a couple of years now, and that remains true entering the 2025 season. However, it’s impossible to ignore the significant dip in production Mahomes experienced in 2024. In 16 games, Mahomes threw for just 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns, both of which were the lowest figures of his career.
Those aren’t exactly numbers to scoff at, but considering what we’ve seen Mahomes do in the past, it left something to be desired. At the end of the day, though, Kansas City kept on winning, so there wasn’t an issue. That all changed in the Super Bowl, as the Eagles thoroughly dismantled the Chiefs on the biggest stage the game has to offer.
As a result, K.C. is expected to be returning with a vengeance in 2025, and that includes Mahomes. Sure enough, after a busy offseason of work, Mahomes has high hopes for the Chiefs ahead of the new season, as he claimed that he thinks the 2025 team could be better than any team from the franchise’s recent dynastic run.
“I think we have a chance to be,” Mahomes said on “Up & Adams” when asked whether he thinks this is the best Chiefs team he’s been a part of. “We have the talent to be the best team that we’ve had, but you gotta go out there and prove it, and until we prove it, I’m not gonna say we’re the best. But if we go out there and win that Super Bowl, then we can say we’re the best one.”
Patrick Mahomes Sets High Bar for Chiefs in 2025

Looking back at the 2024 campaign, Mahomes faced a lot of adversity. Star tight end Travis Kelce struggled to make his typical impact in the passing game, and both Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown dealt with long-term injuries that held them off the field for the majority of the season. With that in mind, Mahomes’ numbers from last season look a bit more reasonable.
Kelce is back for another season, and Rice and Brown are healthy heading into the new season. Add in Xavier Worthy, who enjoyed a breakout game in the team’s Super Bowl loss, and the group of playmakers around Mahomes looks much improved. If everyone can get on the same page right off the bat, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this team inflict some serious damage on the rest of the league as they look to find their way back to the top of the mountain.
