Patrick Mahomes Makes Bold Move After Chiefs Injury

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are officially out of playoff contention, and to make matters worse, Mahomes, of course, suffered a season-ending ACL and LCL injury during the team’s loss on Sunday, December 14, to the Los Angeles Chargers. But, Mahomes is still making waves, and his latest move is drawing attention because it has to do specifically with the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Guys are down,” Reid said following the team’s loss to the Chargers. “They busted to win the game, and I wouldn’t expect anything less. It’s not a great feeling, but I wouldn’t expect it to be after losing a game.”

Reid also commented on the team needing to do better going forward, even though the playoffs are out of the picture now. “We’ve got to do better. When you get opportunities in the red zone, or [with good] field position, you have to take advantage of that,” he said.

Reid added, “We weren’t quite good enough in all three phases, and again, that’s my responsibility to make sure [we] don’t have these kinds of mistakes. I’ll look in the mirror first on this.”

Patrick Mahomes Thanks His Kansas City Chiefs Teammates

Even though Mahomes is recovering from the ACL and LCL surgery, he somehow still managed to make sure to give gifts to his offensive line. As reported on several Chiefs players’ Instagram and social media stories, Mahomes gave players on the team PlayStation 5s with portable cases.

Also, for the offensive line, Mahomes got them watches, luggage carriers and e-bikes. It says a lot that even when he’s down for two reasons, the injury and being out of the postseason, he still makes sure to thank his teammates.

The Kansas City Chiefs also shared the news on social media on Friday, December 19, with a post showing the team opening their gifts from Mahomes. “Christmas came early for the o-line,” they stated. “Shoutout to QB1 for the gifts.”

Kansas City Chiefs Decision Coming Monday

The Kansas City Chiefs, of course, have been in talks about moving their stadium to Kansas, and on Monday, December 22, there’s a legislative coordinating council meeting scheduled in Topeka about the matter.

According to a report from Soren Petro of Sportsradio 810 WHB, the team plans to announce their move after that meeting.

“There is a meeting scheduled in Topeka on Monday,” Petro stated in a post on X, referring to Monday, December 22. “I’m being told the Chiefs are scheduled to be at that meeting, however the Royals are not. Barring a last minute ‘screw up by someone at the top’ announcing the Chiefs are moving to Kansas will happen after that meeting.”

On Thursday, December 18, the Kansas Department of Commerce said it’s active discussions with the Chiefs about the possibility of building a new stadium and related facilities in Kansas.

In a statement, the department said that while an agreement has yet to be finalized, it would be a “massive economic win for Kansas” that could help the state for decades and generations to come.

So, the Chiefs are out of the playoffs, but there’s still going to be plenty of team news emerging as the season winds down.
