Patrick Mahomes News Breaks During Chiefs Bye Week

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a bye week, and they’re coming off a heart wrenching loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, November 2, for a road game. It certainly hurt to fall to the team’s arch rivals in a 28-21 final score, but there’s no use in looking back, and it’s time to move forward and look ahead to the team’s game on Sunday, November 16, against the Denver Broncos, who took down AFC rivals the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday, November 6, in a slow-moving 10-7 game.

Even though the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Bills on Sunday, championship-winning quarterback in Patrick Mahomes had a solid day. He completed 15-of-34 passes for 250 yards, according to NFL research. But, after the loss, the Chiefs have a 5-4 record ahead of their Broncos matchup.

But, before the Broncos game, the Chiefs should enjoy themselves and have a little fun. Even though they went into the bye week after a big loss, they’ve worked hard this season, and they should get some rest and relaxation.

Still, Mahomes isn’t just resting and partying on his vacation week. Instead, he’s giving back, and that’s one thing that makes him a pillar of the organization.

Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is Helping Others on Bye

On Saturday, November 9, Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs head coach Reid’s alma maters of Texas Tech and BYU will go up against each other. But, it’s not all about the action on the field. The two schools are working together for a service project to benefit the Lubbock community, and they’re gathering new and gently-used books at both BYU and Texas Tech’s official alumni tailgates. Those books will go to the Lubbock Literacy organization.

Mahomes and Reid teamed up to help the cause in a commercial that dropped during the Chiefs’ bye week. In the clip, both emphasize the important of people from both colleges donating books. BYU took to their official X account to share the news, noting, “Ahead of this week’s TOP 10 matchup, BYU alum Andy Reid & and Texas Tech alum Patrick Mahomes are encouraging fans to team up to support Literacy Lubbock—bring a book to the Cougs Care tailgate before the game or donate at alumni.byu.edu.”

Those who want to donate but aren’t in the area will be able to do so through an Amazon wish list and cash donations.

Looking Ahead for the Kansas City Chiefs

The Broncos are now a healthy 8-2 following their win over Vegas. But, it was a super low-scoring game with that 10-7 final score.

In a Friday, November 8, feature for CBS Sports, Neither quarterback threw for more than 150 yards, the Raiders had more punts than points, the Broncos recorded exactly ZERO first downs on their first four possessions and the two teams combined for just 17 points, which is the lowest combined total in any game this year.”

He adds that another fun fact is that the Raiders and Broncos both finished with more penalties than first downs. So, the Chiefs will put pressure on the Broncos and force a higher-scoring, and cleaner, game. We just have to wait an extra week to see it.
