Patrick Mahomes, Wife Brittany Make $150,000 Announcement

Heading into the Kansas City Chiefs‘ final preseason matchup against the Chicago Bears on Friday, August 22, quarterback Patrick Mahomes is pumped to suit up.

Speaking to reporters on August 18, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced that the starters will start against the Bears. Mahomes, of course, is unlikely to play for an extended period of time.

Against the Arizona Cardinals in the Chiefs’ preseason opener, the three-time Super Bowl MVP played for a total of 48 seconds. He completed two plays, including a 1-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jason Brownlee, before Gardner Minshew took over.

“It was definitely a little bit of a bummer,” Mahomes told Kay Adams two days later. “You want to get out there and get a couple of snaps in. I always say wanna kinda get hit, not hard, just enough to feel like you’re not wearing that yellow jersey anymore.

“I’m sure I’ll get a couple of more snaps as the preseason goes on. I’m ready to get back out there… and hopefully, get a few more drives.”

During the NFL season, Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, and the couple’s three children relocate from Texas to Missouri. While Mahomes and Brittany remain incredibly busy with the season opener just a few weeks away, the Kansas City Current co-owners always make time for 15 and the Mahomies, the quarterback’s foundation.

Over the weekend, they made an exciting announcement regarding their 2025 scholarship winners.

Patrick & Brittany Mahomes Gave Away $150,000 In Scholarships To Local Area Students

Mahomes founded 15 and the Mahomies in 2019. Over the summer, the foundation announced its inaugural scholarship program. As stated on the website, “This initiative is designed to support five outstanding high school seniors in each of three key communities: Kansas City, Tyler, TX Area, and Lubbock, TX Area.

“Each $10,000 college scholarship will be awarded to Class of 2025 students within their respective community. The 15 Scholarships will recognize academic achievement, leadership, and meaningful community involvement.”

Following the July 30 deadline, Mahomes and Brittany announced the scholarship winners on August 16.

The foundation’s official account tagged the Chiefs star and his wife on Instagram and wrote, “Congratulations to our inaugural 15 and the Mahomies Scholarship Award recipients!” The post gave a shoutout to all 15 winners, totaling $150,000 in scholarship money.

One fan commented, “Thank you for so much generosity and kindness. The 806 is so thankful & proud of you.” Another person wrote, “A personal ‘thank you’ as our grandson Brandon is a recipient this year. This scholarship will be a game changer for him as well as his parents! Thank you so much!”

Patrick Mahomes’ Foundation Teamed Up With My Cleats, My Cause Last Season

During My Cleats My Cause last season, in which players wear custom cleats for an initiative dear to their heart, 15 and the Mahomies teamed up with FARE, Food Allergy Research & Education.

Mahomes wore his custom “15 and FARE” cleats during the Chiefs’ win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13. Afterward, they were auctioned off for $22,050.

Instead of keeping the “15 and FARE” cleats, LK Snacks, which made the winning bid, donated each shoe to a local hospital in Kansas City. Brittany shared the incredible news on her Instagram Stories on August 6.

The post read, “This week, FARE CEO Dr. Sung Poblete, PhD, RN, presented Patrick Mahomes’ game-worn 15 and FARE cleats to two leading institutions in allergy care, Children’s Mercy and The University of Kansas Health System, during a back to school event focused on community collaboration.

“Thanks to LK Snacks, who purchased and donated the cleats, each hospital received one as a symbol of shared commitment to children and families managing food allergies. These health systems are vital partners in bringing the FARE Neighborhoods initiative to Kansas City, expanding access to education, equitable care, and safer dining experiences for all.”
