The Kansas City Chiefs start the season 0-1 following 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in their 2025 season opener.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes lamented over the team’s energy level against their AFC West rival in São Paulo, Brazil. He called out himself, as well as the offense, defense, and special teams.
“I feel like we had energy at practice yesterday and all throughout the week, but if you don’t come out with the right mindset, you get beat,” Mahomes told reporters after the game. “Now, we have to learn from that, knowing that next week is going to be just as tough.”
Kansas City hosts the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2, a highly anticipated rematch of Super Bowl LIX. Fans can expect to see Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, at Arrowhead Stadium for the home opener on Sunday, September 14.

Brittany helped Mahomes brush off the Week 1 loss by attending the friends and family soft opening of 1589 Prime, his new restaurant with Travis Kelce. The tight end’s fiancée, Taylor Swift, also attended the exclusive event at Kansas City’s newest steakhouse.
While Brittany looks forward to the Eagles-Chiefs rematch, she also appeared to take time to reflect on the current state of affairs in America.
Brittany Mahomes Sent a Message on ‘Hate’ Not Being The Answer Following Charlie Kirk’s Death

Since Mahomes reacted to President Donald Trump getting shot at during a campaign stop last July, fans kept an eye out to see if he’d respond to the death of Charlie Kirk, a close Trump ally.
Kirk, 31, a conservative influencer, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10. The following day, Brittany shared the following message on her Instagram Stories: “Hate will not get us out of this mess.
“Your feelings might lie and try to tell you otherwise, but hate doesn’t know how to heal or build, only how to harm and destroy.”
Kirk appeared to be big fan of Mahomes’ family. After the quarterback’s mother, Randi Mahomes, shared her endorsement for Trump while attending the Buccaneers-Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium last season. Kirk reposted Randi’s video on X.
Kirk posted, “NEW: Patrick Mahomes’ mother Randi wears a MAGA hat ahead of the Chiefs game tonight: ‘Make America Great Again! Let’s do it.’ Let’s go!! 🔥🔥.”
Charlie Kirk Showed Support For Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Following Super Bowl LVIII
Kirk gave Mahomes a shoutout following the Chiefs’ 25-22 Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers in 2024. He posted a video of the three-time Super Bowl MVP and wrote, “Patrick Mahomes gives glory to God. Forget all the noise, I love to see this.”
Kirk added in another post on X, “Congrats to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. He’s a great quarterback and a true leader. Appreciate that he gave all glory to God.”
