Patriots’ Christian Barmore Deflects Questions Regarding Domestic Assault Charge
New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore addressed reporters in the locker room on Friday afternoon after it was released that he was facing domestic assault and battery charges against a household or family member. His conversation with reporters lasted less than 1 minute and 30 seconds.
And with that, he repeated the same phrase over and over again when asked about anything concerning this legal issue.

What sort of conversations have you had with your teammates about whatâs going on? âIâm focused on Miami. Playing football.â
However, he did provide a longer answer when asked about being back on the field following his health scare (blood clots).
“Itâs a blessing from God,â he replied. âI thank God for it every day. And my coaches, my medical team, everybody.â
Barmore is set to be arraigned on Feb. 3, which is just before the Super Bowl.
Barmore is facing a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery on a household/family member from an incident on Aug. 8, according to court documents. Specifically, Barmore is being accused of physically assaulting of a women with whom he shares a 2-year-old daughter. He allegedly threw her to the ground after he became angry over the air conditioner temperature in his bedroom, as well as an argument over food.
The victim says she âintended to open the door and scream for help,â but Barmore âgrabbed her before she could and threw her to the floor.â He is said to have grabbed her by the shirt âin the area of her neckâ while she tried to get up. He eventually let her go.
Barmore’s attorney, David E. Meier, released a statement after the charges were made public.
âWe are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that no criminal conduct took place,â Meier said. âBased on the facts and the law, we expect that this personal matter will be resolved in the near future and both parties will move forward together.â

âWell, we always want to gather more information, but these are â weâve been aware of these allegations,” he explained. “Yesterday and today arenât the first that weâve heard about them. Trying to do everything in accordance with the league policy and making sure that weâre in compliance with the league.”
âAgain, allegations, and we want to make sure that the court â that those ongoing court proceedings â and once those are satisfied, then weâll come to whatever conclusion and whatever decision that we have to make,” he later reiterated. “Weâll also stay committed to our preparation here with Miami, making sure that everybodyâs ready to go, whoever plays on Sunday.”
