Patriots Coach Sends Bills QB Josh Allen 2-Word Message

The Buffalo Bills are heading into a game against the New England Patriots on Sunday evening, October 5, and even though the Patriots are the team they used to be and are struggling a bit, the Bills know better than to assume this will be a win. They have to treat this challenge like any other game and be on their A-game.

The Bills, of course, are coming off a big win over the New Orleans Saints, which ended in a 31-19 victory. It certainly helps in all of these big matchups to have Buffalo Bills‘ MVP-winning quarterback Josh Allen at the helm, and he’s getting a lot of recognition in the 2025-26 season, which he totally deserves.

Now, ahead of the Patriots game, New England head coach Mike Vrabel is getting asked, a lot, about Allen. He has a lot to say about the quarterback, too.

Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills Is the Topic of the Moment

Ahead of the game, Vrabel was asked all about Allen and how he plans to take him on. On Wednesday, October 1, he said some glowing things about the quarterback.

So, what he was his two-word description for Allen? He said that Allen has “immense talent.” We agree.

In full context, he said, “Well, I mean, I think he realized that he’s got immense talent, and I think he’s done a much better job of taking care of the football.”

Vrabel added, “And really that’s been the big difference for me. Just watching it from afar, a few years ago, forcing things in the red zone, and that led to some turnovers, some interceptions. And now I think he just has a greater understanding of taking care of the football in those situations. And they’re still scoring touchdowns.”

He also talked about Allen’s versatility, saying, “Even when guys are free, he makes a miss. He spins or he’ll extend out past the numbers to the red line and continue to make plays down the field. Or, heaven forbid, he scrambles up the middle and makes a move on a guy like he’s done in the past in the last couple weeks or breaks the stiff arm out.”

He added, “So, again, it’s a huge challenge any time that he’s carrying the football. And then, obviously, the accuracy and kind of the timing that he’s had throwing the football will be something that we’ll have to work on.”

Josh Allen Gets Props

Nick Shook of the NFL’s website has a piece out naming the best quarterbacks going into Week 5, published on Thursday, October 2. In the piece, he named Allen as the No. 1 best quarterback in the league.

“Josh Allen threw one interception (and nearly tossed another) but otherwise carried Buffalo to a win over the Saints,” he says in the piece. “He completed 72.7 percent of his passes in a game that included James Cook‘s third consecutive outing with 100-plus rushing yards.”

That was one of at least three quarterback rankings that has Allen as No. 1 this week. CBS Sports has him on top, and so does USA Today. So, Allen is truly on top.
