Patriots Get Big Update on WR Stefon Diggs Heading into Titans Game

The New England Patriots are putting the finishing touches on their preparations for their Week 7 contest against the Tennessee Titans. With an active three-game win streak, the Pats are on a roll heading into this one, and a big reason for their strong play has been some big outings from star wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

After a bit of a slow start to the season, Diggs has been on fire as of late, as he’s quickly formed a strong connection with quarterback Drake Maye under center. Throughout the week, though, Diggs has been dealing with a chest injury that has thrown his status for the team’s next game up in the air. On Friday, Diggs received a big injury update that will surely catch the attention of fans.

Stefon Diggs On Track to Play for Patriots in Week 7

The Patriots handed Diggs a three-year, $69 million contract in free agency over the offseason, even though he was coming off a torn ACL he suffered in 2024 with the Houston Texans. Despite concerns about his status for the start of the season, Diggs was ready to go come Week 1, and he’s quickly turned himself into exactly the player the team was hoping he’d become.

Diggs enjoyed his breakout game in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers when he caught six passes for 101 yards, helping the team coast to a 42-13 victory. The real standout performance came next week against his former team, the Buffalo Bills, when he caught 10 passes for 146 yards to lead New England to a shocking upset win.

In Week 6, Diggs only caught three passes for 28 yards, but he had a huge 52-yard reception wiped out by a bogus offensive pass interference penalty. Along the way, he suffered a chest injury that resulted in him being limited at practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. All eyes were on Diggs to see what he could do on Friday, and while he ended up logging a full practice, he is still listed as questionable to play against the Titans.

While Diggs is still technically questionable for this game, the fact that he was able to practice fully is a good sign when it comes to his quest to get on the field for Week 7. If he ends up being unable to go, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, and Demario Douglas would have to step up at wide receiver, with third-round rookie Kyle Williams also potentially factoring into the mix.

Regardless of whether or not Diggs plays, the Patriots should be heavily favored to take down a Titans team that is in complete disarray. With only one win and a new interim head coach (Mike McCoy) in place after Brian Callahan was fired earlier this week, it would be a major shock if New England didn’t come out on top in this one. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, and if all goes according to plan, the Pats will walk away from this clash with a 5-2 record.
