Phillies trade proposal Iands Angels’ 37 Home Run Outfielder

Major League Baseball’s hot stove season is officially here. The free agency period for players to sign with new MLB organizations has opened up, and there should be some contracts given out within the next week or so.

The MLB offseason is also a great chance for teams to trade with each other to address big needs headed into the 2026 season. The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to be active in the player market this offseason, as they have three key free agents that the front office must also think about retaining.

According to MLB Network’s JP Morosi, the Los Angeles Angels are expected to listen to offers on two of their top outfielder in Jo Adell and Taylor Ward.

Should the Phillies target Jo Adell in a trade?

The Phillies outfield has all sorts of question marks surrounding it at the moment. Harrison Bader, who was acquired at the trade deadline, is set to be a free agent, and the early reports suggest that Philadelphia may be moving on from Nick Castellanos, whether it be via a trade or by having his playing time reduced.

Here is what Morosi had to say about the Angels potentially moving on from one of their top outfielders:

“I would say a better than 50/50 chance that they move one of their significant veteran outfielders,” Morosi said on “Hot Stove.” “I’ll mention one team in particular. The Philadelphia Phillies, because we know that (Nick]) Castellanos is probably getting moved, Alec Bohm could get traded and Kyle Schwarber is a free agent. A lot of moving parts there with the Phillies, the outfield there with Philly is very much a work in progress, so I could easily see an Angels-Phillies move involving one of those outfielders.”

Jo Adell struggled in his first few years in MLB after being a top prospect, but 2025 proved to be his breakout campaign. In 152 games, Adell hit 37 home runs, drove in 98 runs, and posted a 111 OPS+. His .236 batting average was also the highest mark of his career over a full season.

What would the Phillies have to give up?

It was mentioned that the Phillies outfield may be under reconstruction, but that doesn’t mean Philadelphia’s front office would send away Castellanos in a player-swap trade. The Los Angeles Angels are likely looking for prospects to help with their rebuild. After another disappointing season where they finished last in the American League West and with a new manager in Kurt Suzuki, the organization is likely looking to start fresh once again

A good asking price would be either top prospect Justin Crawford or Aiden Miller.

Philadelphia has consistently been in the market for outfielders the last couple of seasons, and a trade here almost makes too much sense. We saw back in July, Phillies’ president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, show no hesitancy in the trade market when it came to improving the Phillies roster immediately.

Jo Adell’s 37 home runs were good for fourth in the American League.

As the hot stove season heats up in MLB, expect the rumors of the Phillies being linked to one of these top outfielders to persist.
