Phoenix Suns Add Superstar Forward in Wild Trade Proposal

The Phoenix Suns decided to end the Kevin Durant experiment over the summer. They decided to trade him to the Houston Rockets. It was an acknowledgement that things were not working out between the team and the star forward.

Since making that trade, the Suns have started playing much better basketball. Right now, they sit seventh in the Western Conference standings. They seem to have better chemistry for whatever reason. Yet, they have some ammunition to make a bigger trade if they want.

One wild trade proposal from Bleacher Report has the Suns making a big trade for Zion Williamson.

Phoenix Suns Take Big Swing in Wild Trade Proposal

Here is the full trade proposal:

Jalen Green to the New Orleans Pelicans for Zion Williamson.

Green was part of the Durant trade, so Phoenix doesn’t have a long history with him. Green has also played just two games this season for the Suns, so the team knows it can be successful without him in the lineup. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury.

Williamson is also someone who has been plagued by injury problems for the last few years. He has only played 70 games once in his career. This season, he has only appeared in 11 games. When he’s on the court, he’s usually one of the best players on the floor.

The problem for the Pelicans is that Williamson is putting up the worst stats of his career in the few games he has been able to be on the court. Because of that, his trade value has plummeted. That’s why the Suns would be able to add a star player in just a one-for-one trade.

This would be a high-risk situation for the Suns since they have been playing so well. Williamson’s contract does have some outs when it comes to injury clauses, so that wouldn’t kill them. The question is whether or not adding Williamson would kill the chemistry.

The Suns Have Options at the Trade Deadline

Phoenix will have some options when the trade deadline approaches in a couple of months. How well they play entering the deadline will determine if they make a big move. Right now, they need to move into the top five of the West to justify a massive gamble like this.

Green is still working to get back from his injury. Meanwhile, Williamson is back on the floor. That would be a deciding factor in trying to make a big trade like this. Of course, they could keep Green and try to reintegrate him into the roster once he’s healthy.

The Suns are trying to make some better managerial decisions after the failure of bringing in Durant and Bradley Beal. If they try to take another big swing before the trade deadline, it will be one with less risk associated than bringing in someone with a no-trade clause.
