In a game against the Hawks, Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks received a technical foul that he did not agree with. Brooks received the tech in the fourth quarter, and play continued. The Suns ended up losing the game by just two points.
Phoenix had been on a roll before this loss, winning five straight games. Prior to this loss, the Suns had been tied for sixth in the Western Conference standings. Brooks was not pleased with receiving the technical foul after the game, letting everyone in the media know.

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks Calls Out Referees
After this game against the Hawks, Brooks did not hold back, calling out the referees for handing him that technical foul.
“I think it needs reviewed, and someone needs to get penalized. Sh– I got penalized for calling them out… You want to control the game, the whole game, and give calls to one team and not call it on the other side, miss calls at that, that changed the whole game.”
Brooks wasn’t done, calling out the ref who gave him the tech.
“His name is Justin, if you want to look who it is. After that, you’re holding a grudge all game. The guy didn’t want to make a call with a guy right in my face…like, that’s not it.”
Brooks will almost certainly get fined for his comments about the officiating. Adam Silver does not stand for this kind of talk about the referees, even if the players are right sometimes. Brooks is an agitator, so he has a reputation around the league and with referees.

The Suns Are a Better Team Than Last Season
Adding Brooks into the fold and blowing up last year’s team has been good for Phoenix. They are an improved team from a year ago, despite trading away Kevin Durant. For whatever reason, the chemistry with this unit has been better.
The Suns are worse offensively than they were a year ago, but are now a top-ten defense in terms of points allowed. Last season, they were in the bottom ten. Adding Brooks has certainly helped the perimeter defense, which was porous last year.
Phoenix is still playing some of the best basketball in the league at the moment, despite this loss.
