The Kansas City Chiefs suffered their second consecutive loss after falling 20-17 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
For the first time in Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes‘ career, Kansas City starts a season 0-2. However, the three-time Super Bowl MVP is not panicking.
“Obviously, we’ve never been 0-2, but we’ve had times where we’ve dealt with challenges before and lost games,” Mahomes told reporters after the game.
“I think the guys that we have in this locker room will go back to work with that mindset of, ‘We’re gonna continue to work even harder, so that when we step on that field next time, we can find a way to win in those big moments like we haven’t in these first two weeks.’”

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had a rough outing against the Eagles, as his early fourth-quarter fumble led to Philadelphia’s game-winning touchdown. Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift, attended the Chiefs’ home opener at Arrowhead Stadium; however, she avoided the jumbotron.
Despite the loss, Swift and Kelce, along with Mahomes, rallied to celebrate the quarterback’s birthday after the game.

Country star Kane Brown shared highlights from Chiefs star’s birthday party at 1587 Prime, Kelce and Mahomes’ new steakhouse in Kansas City. Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, hosted the bash on Sunday, September 14.
Brown posted a photo with his wife, Katelyn, Mahomes, Brittany, Kelce, and Swift and wrote, “happy birthday Pat & congrats TT ❤️ thanks for hosting us Britt 🙏🏽.” In the second slide, the singer included a video of the three-time Super Bowl MVP blowing out his candles.
Swift looked stunning in a Jonathan Simkhai plaid vest top and matching skirt with Gucci platforms. After keeping a low profile at the Chiefs home opener, fans were thrilled to see the 14-time Grammy winner.
A photo of Kelce at the birthday bash emerged one day earlier, as former NBA player Chandler Parsons posted a picture with Chiefs tight end at the event. Despite Kelce’s sideline outburst in the second quarter, the 35-year-old looked happy and relaxed.
While hosting a birthday party immediately after a loss may seem ill-timed, given the Chiefs’ weekday practice schedule, Sunday evening was probably the best night to celebrate. Mahomes officially turns 30 on September 17, the same date 1587 Prime opens to the public.

Before the Chiefs’ 2025 season kicked off, Brittany jetted off to Tennessee celebrate her 30th birthday. Lyndsay Bell, whose husband, Blake Bell, is a former tight end for the Chiefs, Miranda Hogue, Cass Greinert, Chestley Strother, and Swift joined the festivities in Nashville.
Fans immediately noticed Swift, 35, was wearing her ruby “T” necklace in the photos.. The “Karma” singer first debuted the custom Lorraine Schwartz chain around her thigh at the 2025 Grammys in Los Angeles. She then wore the leg chain as a necklace to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, confirming the “T” was a nod to the guy on the Chiefs.
