Racing delayed at Ayr due to ‘medical emergency’ in the crowd

RACING has been delayed at Ayr due to a ‘medical emergency’ in the crowd.

The second race on the day is due off at 2.05pm but has been pushed back indefinitely.

This is the first day of Ayr’s blockbuster two-day Scottish Grand National meeting – their biggest festival of the year.

It is believed an ambulance was rushed to the scene where the poorly person was taken away from the track.

Racing TV presenter Gordon Brown said: “There’s going to be no more than a short delay, we hope, due to a medical emergency in the grandstand.

“The paramedics are currently attending to someone. Let’s hope we get a positive outcome.

“It has been dealt with very quickly but we know no more than that.

“But due to that medical emergency there will be a slight delay to our second race of the day.”

While presenter in the studio Tom Stanley added: “We hope the individual subject to that medical emergency recovers and is OK.

“It’s obviously pretty serious at the moment given that delay.

“The individual is receiving the best care and attention there. Fingers crossed it all works out.”
