Despite the rumors, Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby stayed put as the NFL trade deadline came and went. Nonetheless, even with the Silver and Black sitting at 2-6, don’t expect Crosby to throw in the towel and mail it in until the end of the 2025 NFL season.
Whether he’s with the Raiders next season or not, considering trade rumors will linger into the offseason, Crosby understands that he’s setting an example for everyone in the dressing room. If he plays at 100 percent each down, then the rest of the roster needs to follow suit.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo sent a strong message regarding the motor that Crosby has, even with his team likely to miss the playoffs again.
“[Crosby] knows this is a lost season,” Garafolo said on November 6 on the NFL Network. “He knows there’s potentially some significant changes coming to the coaching staff in a little bit. And yet he’s playing his absolute heart out. It’s first and goal at the one [yard line]. The Jaguars are clearly scoring a touchdown.
“I’m like, I’m just going to watch Maxx Crosby in this play, flying into the backfield, making a stop as if it’s the freaking Super Bowl, which at this point, you got to wonder if you’re Maxx Crosby, if you’re ever going to play in one. And yet he’s just playing his absolute hard out. This dude is a Raider in every sense of the word. I love him. I love watching him.”
Raiders’ Maxx Crosby Is Blocking All the Outside Noise
Even with his name in the rumor mill and likely to stay there through the offseason, Crosby recently appeared on “Let’s Go!” with Jim Gray and discussed how he’s blocking out the trade talk in recent weeks. It’s noise that will keep going until Las Vegas puts a contending team around him.
“I really try to block out all the noise,” Crosby told Gray. “Rumors and things of that nature, I can’t control. It’s just a waste of time and energy when it comes to that. Walking through the facility and seeing it all over the TVs with teammates around, it’s awkward—stuff like that. I’m focused on now, where my feet are, and on winning. That’s all I want to do—win and get this team to where we need to be.”
Maxx Crosby Wants to Be a Solution in Las Vegas
Crosby remains committed to the Raiders, but he’s realistic about where things stand. At 2-5, Las Vegas would need an incredible turnaround to have any shot at the postseason, meaning another year without playoff football seems likely. Still, Crosby isn’t looking to jump ship. He wants to help the team rebuild into a contender instead of walking away from the challenge.
“It’s not there at the moment, but we have another opportunity coming up,” Crosby added. “We have a chance every day to get better, so it’s got to be everyone. For me, like I said, there’s no comfortability. All my focus is on being the best version of myself, whether that’s on the field or off it, and bringing this team to where we need to be. That’s all I care about.”
