The Las Vegas Raiders were busy during the 2025 NFL offseason, and the expectation is that they will take a step forward after a rough 2024 season. Pete Carroll is the team’s new head coach, and he has his former quarterback with the Seattle Seahawks, Geno Smith, in town leading his offense. Right off the bat, these two guys should help Las Vegas be a better team in the upcoming campaign.
Repairing a team that only won four games last season is going to be easier said than done, and there will be some growing pains as the new year unfolds. A big reason for that is that there are still several holes on the roster heading into the 2025 campaign. With that in mind, the Raiders have been predicted to look into making some trades to address two of the weaker positions on their roster.
Raiders Predicted to Trade for Wide Receiver, Cornerback Help
When a team loses 13 of its 17 games like Las Vegas did last season, there are typically a lot of issues up and down the organization. The coaching staff, led by former head coach Antonio Pierce, was not up to par, and the roster he was working with was significantly devoid of talent. Over the offseason, the team worked on addressing those issues.
The additions of guys like Carroll, Smith, and rookie running back Ashton Jeanty should help, but how much? The Raiders still have several areas on their roster where they are looking for someone to emerge, and while they will primarily rely on internal candidates to fill those gaps at this point, there is still time for the front office to make some external additions to their roster.
With roster cuts looming, several players are going to find their way onto the trade market over the coming days, as teams attempt to get something back in return for them, rather than releasing them and getting nothing in return. And with trades beginning to pop up across the league, one team insider believes that Las Vegas could target help at the wide receiver and cornerback positions moving forward.
“I would not be shocked with a Raiders trade at wide receiver or corner right now,” Hondo Carpenter said on “Las Vegas Raiders on SI.” “Would not be surprised. I don’t think anything is imminent … but if they’re able to make a deal, remember I told you that first.”
Should Raiders Make Trades for Wide Receiver, Cornerback Help?

GettyExpectations are high for the Pete Carroll-led Raiders in 2025.
Both wide receiver and cornerback are spots the Raiders could use help at. While Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker are a solid duo, there isn’t much help behind them, although having a star tight end, Brock Bowers, certainly helps. At cornerback, though, things are looking pretty bleak for Las Vegas, especially after they made the confusing decision to trade Jakorian Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in August.
Should an opportunity arise at either spot, the front office is going to be keeping a close eye on the trade market. Carpenter seems to feel pretty confident that moves are coming that will address both positions, and if that does end up happening, it could help the Raiders make even more of an improvement in 2025 than initially expected.
