Linebacker Nate Landman signed a veteran minimum deal with the Los Angeles Rams this offseason and achieved quite a lot in a small time with the organization.
The defender was named a captain, wears the green dot and has 41 tackles for Los Angeles, the second most on the team, only behind safety Kamren Curl. The linebacker is also second in the most solo tackles, behind Curl again.
“I think just the command, the communication, obviously the productivity,” McVay said about the player, via Sports Illustrated. “When he has 10 tackles and then he makes a huge play. There are so many different things, especially when you’re the ‘green dot guy’ and you’re communicating, you’re making front adjustments, you’re communicating to the back end on certain things,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said.
“This guy is an extension of the coaches and he came in and earned the respect of his teammates by the way that he went to work every single day. He’s really got a lot of love in the locker room that’s been earned and he has a great way of being able to seamlessly fit in.”
One NFL writer has high praise for Landman after the way he has performed for LA this season.
Nate Landman Named Among Best FA Signings

Nate Landman signed a $1.1 million veteran minimum contract with the Los Angeles Rams after playing three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.
Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano names Landman as one of the best free agent signings this season.
“Landman has made a name for himself as a gem free-agent signing in Los Angeles. He was a spot starter with the Falcons for three seasons before he found his footing with the Rams. Landman has done it all in the middle of the Rams’ defense, helping against the run and in coverage. He has 41 total tackles and two fumble recoveries,” Manzano wrote.
Landman’s 41 tackles are half of his total tackle mark in his final season with the Falcons at 81. The defender on the veteran minimum also has four pass deflections and two fumble recoveries.
According to Over the Cap, Landman only has $75,000 in guaranteed money, proving to be a low amount for a player of his quality.
What’s Next For Landman?

The fourth-year linebacker has proven to be a steal for the LA Rams in free agency, leaving the possibility of the organization re-signing the player.
Turf Show Times’ JB Scott believes the Rams should already be on the negotiating table with the linebacker to keep him in Los Angeles.
“The Rams’ veteran linebacker was a key difference maker in the team’s opening win against the Houston Texans. He played at an “elite” level from start to finish,” Scott wrote after the season opener. “Now is the time for LA to consider extending their new “green dot guy”, or they could risk him playing elsewhere next year—restarting the cycle.”
Landman has 12 more tackles than the next linebacker on the roster. The Rams would need to keep the linebacker if no one else in the position group can produce.
