Longtime Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee’s time with the team could come to an end.
Pro Football Focus named Higbee as a trade candidate entering the 2025 NFL training camp.
“Although the Rams have ushered in a new receiving corps in the past few years, Higbee has long been a staple of Sean McVay’s offense. At the same time, the team’s recent tight end investments could signal that Higbee’s time in Los Angeles is nearing its end,” Bradley Locker wrote for PFF.
“The Rams’ jubilation in landing second-round tight end Terrance Ferguson is eye-opening, especially because the team has searched for a coveted weapon for multiple offseasons. On top of that, Los Angeles returns Davis Allen (63.3 PFF run-blocking grade) and Colby Parkinson (66.2 PFF pass-blocking grade) as depth behind the newcomer. Los Angeles parted with Cooper Kupp earlier this offseason, and Higbee may be next in line.”
Higbee has spent his whole career with the Rams. During his time in Los Angeles, he totaled 3,668 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns.
The tight end is currently the second-longest tenured player on the Rams, behind offensive tackle Rob Havenstein, who is entering his 11th year — having been with the Rams since St. Louis.
Younger Tight End Options

The Rams currently have four tight ends entering training camps.
Los Angeles selected Ferguson with the 46th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Parkinson is entering the second year of his contract. Allen is entering his third season in the NFL.
As the veteran player in the group, Higbee could help develop the talent for the Rams in the long run.
Parkinson had 294 receiving yards and a touchdown in his first season with the Rams. Allen totaled 39 yards in his sophomore season.
Neither tight end was able to pull near the usual numbers as Higbee, even though he was out for most of the season.
Ferguson said that Higbee has helped him integrate with the Rams, helping him learn the playbook and other “subtle” aspects.
The former Oregon Duck product said the whole tight end group has been helping in offseason training.
Tyler Higbee Returning From Injury

Tyler Higbee missed most of the 24-25 season after tearing his ACL and MCL in the playoffs against the Detroit Lions.
Higbee returned in the final three regular season games and two playoff games for the Rams. In the two playoff games, the tight end logged 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.
While it appears that tearing his ligaments hasn’t hindered his play on the field, it could worry the Rams in the future.
“McVay showed a little more willingness to use multiple tight ends late last season, and Higbee could be a big part of the 2025 picture if he can stay healthy. Rookie tight ends also can develop slower than expected. But the Rams appear downright giddy about Ferguson, and Higbee’s durability remains a potential worry,” Eric Edholm wrote for NFL.
The longtime Rams tight end turns 33 years old near the end of the regular season, with the next oldest TE being 26 years old.
