Rams $33 Million RB Predicted To Lead League In Rushing TDs

Fresh from signing his three-year, $33 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Rams, running back Kyren Williams is looking to get back to work with the franchise.

The Rams’ leading rusher has been one of the better RBs in the league since becoming the starter in the 2023-24 season. Now, with a new contract, he could take things to the next level.

Rams Wire’s Cameron DaSilva dropped his 8 bold predictions before the start of the season, with him predicting that Williams will lead the league in rushing touchdowns.

“Williams was fourth in the NFL in rushing touchdowns last season with 14 scores. The year prior, he was tied for seventh despite only playing 12 games. He’s been a touchdown machine for the Rams and there’s no reason to believe that won’t continue this season,” DaSilva wrote.

“He had a league-high 19 rushes inside the 5-yard line last season, which he turned into 12 touchdowns. In 2023, he had 13 such runs which turned into eight touchdowns. If he keeps getting those opportunities, which he should, he’ll continue to find the end zone at a high rate… With the offense expected to be better, Williams could get even more red zone chances this season.”

Williams was 2 touchdowns away from tying the top rushing TD leaders in the league last season, who had 16 rushing touchdowns. The running backs 12 rushing TDs were tied for the 7th most in the 2023-24 season.

Kyren Williams’ 2,443 rushing yards over the last two seasons is the third best in the span, only behind Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry, who both have more than 500 yards more than Williams.

The former Notre Dame Fighting Irish is looking to improve from the 2024-25 season, where he ran for 1,299 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.

“I don’t feel like I’ve touched my peak yet. I’ve gotten to where I wanted to be, but I’m determined to make this my best season,” Williams told RG Org. “Just trying to make more explosive runs, be able to create long runs and just create more opportunities for my guys around me to be successful.”

“However that looks, whether that’s pass blocking, catching the ball, breaking long runs, converting first downs, do everything I can to make sure that I’m the best I can be consistently this year.”

Williams carried the bulk of the Rams’ rushing attempts last season, with him having 316 of the 450 running plays the Rams called.

Questions With The Offense

Kyren Williams may get more rushing attempts next season due to questions lingering about starting quarterback Matthew Stafford’s back injury.

The QB has been training with the team for the last couple of weeks after missing most of the early part of training camp.

Los Angeles may be cautious with their starting QB and Williams may receive more rushing attempts to prevent any big hits to Stafford.

If Williams wants to achieve his peak, as he said, getting more rushing attempts may allow him to get his best professional season and make DaSilva’s prediction for Williams possible.
