The Los Angeles Rams are calling on the cavalry for their home date against the Detroit Lions in Week 15, adding Tutu Atwell and Tanner Ingle. Their additions come amid a new injury concern for the Rams.
That has been par for the course for the Rams this season.
However, both Atwell and Ingle have proven themselves to be capable contributors, drawing praise from Rams head coach Sean McVay.
Rams Activate Tutu Atwell From Injured Reserve

The Rams announced with a post on X on December 13 that they “Activated, from Reserve WR Tutu Atwell.” Atwell has been on injured reserve since suffering a hamstring injury during the Rams’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7.
He has practiced fully for weeks. However, the Rams waited to activate him from IR to the active roster for personnel reasons.
“You look at just some of the roster semantics, had to make a tough move on a guy that, really, it was a pure numbers thing with Nick Hampton earlier in the week. And so, we’re always creatively trying to be able to figure out, all right, how do we get our 48 up?” McVay told reporters on December 12, echoing his previous comments.
“[Atwell is a] guy that we wanted to be able to get up. It’s obviously a good problem for us to figure out how to utilize his skill set. Because there’s been an emergence of a lot of guys, not exclusive to just receivers, since he’s gone out. But he’s a guy that can influence and affect the game in a positive way, and be good to get him back out there.”
Sean McVay Praises Tutu Atwell

Atwell is lightly utilized in the Rams’ offense. He has four receptions for 164 yards and 1 touchdown so far this season. Still, McVay values Atwell’s presence on the field.
McVay also commended Atwell’s handling of the situation.
“He’s so smart. He’s so aware. And I think the most important thing is, as long as there’s communication throughout and clarity for him. And he’s been a pro about it. I’ve got a lot of love for Tutu as you continue to build the relationship over these years,” McVay said.
“I know he’s chomping at the bit. He wants to get out there and compete and contribute and be able to positively help this team. He’s done that in a lot of ways that, maybe, isn’t always reflected in some of the games that you guys have seen. But he’s making an impact, and it’ll be good to be able to get him out there and see how the game unfolds.”
Atwell re-signed with the Rams in free agency this past offseason, inking a one-year, $10 million contract. His future with the club remains uncertain given that reality, his usage in the offense, and the emergence of teammate Xavier Smith in his (Atwell’s) absence.
Rams Add ‘Human Missile’ Amid Latest Injury Concerns

The Rams also announced that they had “Activated, from Practice Squad S Tanner Ingle.”
Ingle, 26, is a former undrafted free agent who is in his third season with the Rams. He has played in one game in his career, which came this season. Ingle logged three defensive snaps and 13 reps on special teams against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.
McVay has lauded what Ingle brings to the field when he is on it, calling him a “Human Missile.”
Ingle’s activation comes as the Rams added safety Jaylen McCullough to the injury report with an illness. McCullough has played in all 13 of the Rams’ games so far, but LA lists him as questionable for Sunday’s tilt against the Lions.
