Rams Get Encouraging Update Before ‘Thursday Night Football’ Showdown

The Los Angeles Rams have taken precautions with Davante Adams so far this week, with hopes that he will be able to suit up against the Seattle Seahawks on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 16, and their efforts could pay off.

Adams is dealing with a hamstring injury that, at least up until this week, had only cost him practice reps, not game time.

There is a chance that remains the case in Week 16.

Davante Adams Could Play Limited Role in Rams-Seahawks

The typically durable Adams aggravated a previous hamstring injury in Week 15 against the Detroit Lions. Adams missed Tuesday’s practice, the first of the week. However, all hope is not lost that he will play in Week 16.

“Davante Adams, I would say, up in the air to be able to play on Thursday,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on “Good Morning Football” on December 17. “They are not ruling him out, and I think there is a possibility he’s out there in some form or fashion. Maybe just red zone, something like that, just to get him on the field. But overall, it does not seem like you’re going to have the Davante Adams that he has always been.”

Adams went down during the fourth quarter of the Rams’ win over the Lions. He was ruled questionable to return during the contest, but never re-entered the fray.

Adams is the NFL’s touchdown receptions leader, with 14.

He also has 789 yards on his 60 catches this season. The Rams are the No. 1 seed in the NFC entering this contest. They can also put some space between themselves and the Seahawks, who enter the matchup with the same record.

The Rams defeated the Seahawks at home in LA in Week 11. Moreover, the Rams are 6-3 in Seattle since 2017 when Sean McVay took over as head coach.

Adams, who is in Year 1 of a two-year, $44 million contract, would be a big loss for the Rams.

Sean McVay: Davante Adams, Braden Fiske Game-Time Decisions

Adams is not the only injury concern for the Rams, whose first injury report of the week was an estimation after they only held a walkthrough rather than an actual practice.

The Rams are also awaiting word on defensive lineman Braden Fiske. McVay said they will give both players as much time as possible to prove they are healthy enough to play against the Seahawks.

“The two guys that’ll be DNPs, that we’re going to give them every chance that they’ve got, would be you know Davante with the hamstring, and Fiske came out of the game with a little bit of soreness in his ankle, kind of got banged up. So, we’ll take it a day at a time with those guys,” McVay told reporters on December 16. “It’ll just be a practice projection [on Tuesday]. So, they’ll both be DNPs. But we’ll take it all the way up to game time and see where they’re at.”

McVay and the Rams can notch their 12th win of the season in Week 16, with or without Adams.

That would be their most since the 2021 season, which ended with McVay and the Rams hoisting the Lombardi Trophy as Super Bowl champions.
