Los Angeles Rams 2025 second-round draft pick tight end Terrance Ferguson has been injured with a groin injury for the last couple of weeks, forcing the former Oregon Duck to miss the team’s first two preseason games.
Entering the final week of preseason, Ferguson made his return to training as a limited participant with the team.
“He looked good,” head coach Sean McVay told reporters. “You know, we’re a little bit limited in regards to what he could do. “But I thought he did a nice job with the few reps he was able to get.”
Before suffering his injury, Ferguson was impressing the coaching staff in spring training.
“Terrance has been good. We’ve seen a guy that’s been really attentive in meetings, got a really good feel…Just been really impressed with him… and looking forward to seeing him just continue to take it a step at a time,” McVay said, via Sports Illustrated.
With the tight end back, it will help get back into the swing of things with the regular season fast approaching.
Terrance Ferguson Could Make His Preseason Debut

GettySecond-round pick Terrance Ferguson is seen by many as a fantastic selection by the Rams.
Terrance Ferguson was forced to miss the Rams’ first two preseason games against the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers.
The tight end’s return to the practice field could signal his possible preseason debut against the Cleveland Browns. Due to missing game time that would let him get familiar with McVay’s offense, Ferguson could play a few snaps or a couple of drives to at least integrate him into the scheme.
The Rams also may not play Ferguson at all. Wanting to keep their first selection of the 2025 NFL Draft healthy, Los Angeles may not want to rush the offensive players’ recovery process before the start of the season.
The tight end room currently has four players, led by longtime Ram Tyler Higbee. With three other options, Ferguson could use the snaps to help get leverage in the depth chart ahead of the season.

The Los Angeles Rams are hoping to integrate Terrance Ferguson into the team and be a long-term player with the organization. Ferguson could be the answer to the Rams’ tight end issues, who haven’t had a 500+ receiving TE the last two seasons.
Former (St. Louis) Ram Chris Long praised the new addition to the Rams offense and believes Ferguson could be help the team.
“The Ferguson kid might be the most athletic guy they’ve had in a little while at tight end,” Long said on “The Green Light Podcast,” via Rams Wire. “… But I bet you, just reading the tea leaves, that eventually he’s going to he’s going to play for them. And he’s going to be he’s going to be an important player for them at some point in the season.”
With a packed TE room, Ferguson will need to show up the rest of training camp to get more snaps as a rookie.
