“That we really love and appreciate the time we had with them,” Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said in a press conference on Saturday, after the Rams wrapped up preseason action with a 19-17 loss to the Browns. The deadline to cut rosters down to 53 players is on Tuesday, so many of the men that have battled all throughout training camp and the preseason will be moving on shortly.
Shaun Dolac is one player making a late push for a roster spot. The 2025 undrafted free agent out of Buffalo has been a camp standout, making his presence felt all over the field. Linebacker is the Rams’ weakest position on paper, so there’s an opportunity there for Dolac to claim a spot. He dressed for Saturday’s game, but did not play.
“It’s a good sign for him,” McVay said on Dolac, who has 14 tackles this preseason. “We’ll continue to evaluate, but he’s done a really good job. He’s made his presence felt on [special] teams, I think he’s played really well for those inside [line]backers. He’s got a good understanding of what we’re trying to get done, the intent of different things, and I’ve been really pleased with him.”

Second-round rookie Terrance Ferguson was the Rams’ highest draft pick this year, after they traded their first-rounder to the Falcons for a future first (among other assets). He’s missed some time in camp due to injuries and made his preseason debut against the Browns, where he had two catches for 48 yards.
“Felt like it was good,” McVay said on Ferguson’s performance. “It was obviously a challenge, that’s a really good defense and they played their lead dogs — and we had a little bit of trouble being able to get some throws off. But he won on some routes where we missed him earlier on. I thought it was really cool for he and [QB] Dresser [Winn] to be able to connect on that vertical shot from the slot. Wish he wasn’t out of bounds on that, but then it was cool to come back off the play-action, be able to make that play.”
“You feel him — he’s just got a nice pace to his game. Thought it was great to be able to get him out there.”
Sean McVay on How the Los Angeles Rams Coaching Staff Evaluates for Roster Cuts
“Those guys, they’ve established themselves as guys we can count on,” McVay said about his young group of offensive linemen behind the starters. “You look even last year, Quessenberry’s a guy who’s played at a high level, can play right or left side. We’re really fortunate to have him.”
“Justin Dedich and Beaux Limmer did a great job of being able to get a bunch of meaningful snaps last year,” McVay continued. “They’ve continued to elevate their game. Both those guys can play all three interior spots. And I think Warren McClendon’s emergence and ascendance to being a really good football player, where he can play right tackle, we saw that on display last year when Rob [Havenstein] was missing [time]. And I think he’s even doing a great job of being able to play on the left side as well. So really good signs for those guys.”
