The Los Angeles Rams have tempered expectations all week. That was both with the words of head coach Sean McVay and Davante Adamsâ participation in practice for the Rams.
On Wednesday, they made it official.
The Rams continue to hold out hope they will have Adams available for Week 16. LA will host the Seattle Seahawks on âThursday Night Football.â However, they have officially suggested he is a long shot to suit up.
Davante Adams Draws Ominous Injury Designation
GettyDavante Adams #17 of the Los Angeles Rams warms up before facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
âRams wide receiver Davante Adams (knee/hamstring) is listed as âdoubtfulâ for the Ramsâ Thursday Night Football game in Seattle at Lumen Field,â TheRams.comâs Stu Jackson and Wyatt Miller wrote on December 17. âHe exited last week’s game against the Lions and did not return.â
Adams was optimistic about his potential availability postgame, but McVay was not.
âHe was optimistic talking to him. He knows his body really well,â McVay told reporters on December 15. âI canât imagine thatâs good for Thursday, with just the short amount of time. I certainly wouldnât rule him out quite yet, but it didnât look good.â
This is a critical rematch against the Seahawks, who have the same 11-3 record as the Rams. LA also has to plan for its postseason future, they hope, with Adams in it.
ESPNâs Jeremy Fowler reported that Adams is considered âweek-to-week,â per his sources.
âAdams is a long shot for Thursday night vs. the Seahawks, but the Rams are not ruling him out, holding out hope,â ESPNâs Jeremy Fowler wrote on December 17. âItâs essentially a hamstring pull. Usually players donât come back from that on three daysâ rest for a Thursday night game, but letâs see what the Rams decide here.â
Adams did not participate in any practice during the week. The Rams only held walkthroughs. Even on a shortened schedule, that suggests his final designation is more wishful thinking than the reality of the situation.
The Rams will turn to a combination of Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, Tutu Atwell, and Xavier Smith if Adams indeed sits.
Rams Get Good News on Braden Fiske, Others

While Adamsâ chances look grim, the Rams are more optimistic about defensive lineman Braden Fiske suiting up against the Seahawks.
Fiske is the only other player on the Ramsâ injury report carrying a designation into gameday. The Rams listed two startersâleft tackle Alaric Jackson and fill-in safety Jaylen McCulloughâamong the six players on their final injury report of the week.
Whittington and tight end Nick Vannett were the others.
Fiske and fellow frontline players Byron Young, Jared Verse, and Kobie Turner could be in for a big day against the Seahawks.
Seahawks Rule Out Charles Cross

While Adamsâ Week 16 status remains up in the air, the Rams received an encouraging update from the Seahawksâ side.
âThe Seahawks will be without left tackle Charles Cross for Thursday night’s game against the Rams, the result of the hamstring injury that occurred on Seattle’s game-winning field goal in Sunday’s win over the Colts,â Seahawks.comâs John Boyle wrote on December 18 in Seattleâs final report.
âOther than Cross, who did not practice all week, every other player on the injury report was a full participant in Wednesdayâs practice, and no other player has a game status, meaning everyone should be available.â
The Rams enter Week 16 ranked ninth in sacks and 13th in pressure rate, per Pro Football Reference.
