The Los Angeles Rams didn’t make any blockbuster trades that rocked the NFL world before the 2025 trade deadline, but did add a young cornerback in Roger McCreary, whom they acquired from the Tennessee Titans.
Regardless, the team is 6-2 and is still considered to be a contender for the Super Bowl. One NFL analyst is already looking ahead and examining the moves that can improve the Rams’ roster in the 2026 offseason, when teams can begin to upgrade their rosters.
Suitor For Five-Time Pro Bowler

Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton names the Rams as a suitor for the Miami Dolphins’ safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
“Minkah Fitzpatrick isn’t a stranger to the trade rumor mill or going on the move. In 2019, the Miami Dolphins traded him to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who sent him back this past offseason,” xx wrote. “On a team without much short- or long-term direction, Fitzpatrick may suit up for a new club next year.” Moton wrote.
“Typically, in a rebuilding situation, safeties aren’t high on the priority list. Moreover, Fitzpatrick saw a significant drop-off in his ball production over the past few seasons… In 2026, Fitzpatrick will enter his age-29 term. No longer a game-changing safety, he could be available on the trade block for Day 3 picks. A team looking to add a versatile chess piece to its secondary could be interested in a deal.”
The Rams could use a veteran player in the secondary as a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro. The average age of the safeties on the current 53-man roster is 25 years old. Fitzpatrick, 28, is just two years older than the next-oldest player, but has All-Pro experience that no other has and can help give pointers to the younger players in the DB room.
With the Dolphins most likely moving on from head coach Mike McDaniels in the near future, a move away from a rebuilding franchise could entice Fitzpatrick.
If he were to be traded to the Rams, he would find himself on a team with one of the longest tenured head coaches, a winning culture and an elite young defense.
Minkah Fitzpatrick In LA

Minkah Fitzpatrick would be one of the most experienced players if he were to be traded to the LA Rams.
The safety has been a Pro Bowler for the last three consecutive seasons, with the Rams not having a Pro Bowl defensive back since the 2022 season.
Appearing to enter the latter half of his career, Fitzpatrick has some gas left in the tank.
In his last three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, before being traded to the Dolphins, he has logged 7 interceptions, 18 pass deflections and 256 tackles. In the span, he has only missed 7 games, showing that he can be a reliable option to play on game today — he has also yet to miss a game this season.
The Rams are in a win-now situation with quarterback Matthew Stafford appearing to retire at the end of this season or next season.
What would help the team win a Super Bowl? Adding a player of Fitzpatrick’s quality on the defense.
