Los Angeles Rams‘ star wide receiver Puka Nacua isn’t holding back when it comes to his thoughts on NFL officiating.
“The refs are the worst,” Nacua said during a live stream with Adin Ross and N3on. “These guys are lawyers. They want to be on TV, too. You don’t think he’s texting his friends in the group chat like, ‘Yo, you just saw me on *Sunday Night Football?’ That wasn’t PI, but I called it.’”
Players can face fines for publicly criticizing officials, but Nacua seemed unfazed. The live stream itself ran into logistical issues when Ross and N3on attempted to enter the Rams’ facility on Tuesday and were denied access.
“I thought my team communicated. I guess there was no communication,” Nacua explained via phone on the stream. “Especially then, when Coach found out, he didn’t (expletive) with that. Just because of the short week. Let me handle business on Thursday, then we should be good.”
Tuesday’s practice carried extra weight, as it’s the Rams’ only session this week before a pivotal NFC West clash against the Seattle Seahawks.
Nacua Could Be Rams’ Biggest Factor On TNF
Both the Rams and Seahawks enter the game at 11–3, tied atop the division. A win would give Los Angeles a 90 percent chance at the NFC’s top seed, according to The Athletic’s playoff simulator. A loss would drop that probability to just 20 percent.
Nacua will be asked to shoulder a heavy offensive load. Fellow star receiver Davante Adams is battling a hamstring injury and remains questionable. Without Adams, the Rams could rely on Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington, and younger options like Xavier Smith and Konata Mumpfield to handle both the expected rain and the raucous Lumen Field crowd.
It’s a situation that puts a premium on Nacua’s elite production. This season, he ranks second in the NFL with 102 catches and 1,367 receiving yards. Los Angeles will need its top version of Nacua to navigate a Seahawks defense that leads the league in passing yards per attempt allowed and ranks in the top 10 across nearly every major defensive category.
